I've changed my mind about Murtha being Majority Leader |
|
(even though we don't get a vote on this one.) He had some excellent points and additional info last night on one of the cable shows. A big plus was that he'll be able to corral conservative Democrats. That's going to carry a lot of weight with the new Congress, especially with the freshmen.
It was aware that Pelose and Hoyer had gone against each other for leadership positions before, but I didn't realize that Murtha was in charge of Pelosi's previous campaigns when she ran against Hoyer. Murtha stood firmly for Pelosi and pulled a win for her. That would be proven performance in my book.
So, Murtha over Hoyer in my book. Let the games begin!

5. I think Murtha would make a great majority leader |
|
I'm challenged over his anti-choice stance but feel he's more pro-life in a sense since he actually cares about the fetus once it is born. And I think this former extreme warhawk will be excellent in getting more folks over on our side with ending this war.
I'm also hoping that Murtha's relationship with the Casey family of Pennsylvania will help give new elected Casey Jr. some guidance on what he should do about the war! Perhaps Murtha can take all the newly elected Senator & represenatives from Pennsylvania and give them a tour of Walter Reed - show these new folks what he saw and why he changed his mind about the war (IE that would be Casey, Altemire, Sestak, P. Murphey and Carney)
