Charlie Rangel kicks Dick "Go F Yerself" Cheney to the CURB!!!!
This PLEASES me. It pleases me GREATLY. That lawyer-shooting bastard does not NEED an office on the goddamn Hill, on the HOUSE side. He's got an office on the Senate side, in his role as President of the Senate. Let him squeeze in with Fatboy Hastert if he needs to schmooze with the GOP MINORITY on the House side, the fucker. http://www.nypost.com/seven/11092006/news/nationalnews/rangel_means_to_irk_vp_nationalnews_ian_bishop_________post_correspondent.htm

November 9, 2006 -- Rep. Charles Rangel, the incoming chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, revealed yesterday that he's got his eye on Capitol Hill office space now held by the man he recently called a "son of a bitch" - Vice President Dick Cheney.

"Mr. Cheney enjoys an office on the second floor of the House of Representatives that historically has been designated for the Ways and Means Committee chairman," explained Rangel, who vaulted to the top slot of the tax-writing panel - one of the most powerful in Congress - when Democrats rolled over the GOP to take control of the House.

"I talked to Nancy Pelosi about it this morning," a giddy Rangel crowed during a news conference at his Harlem office. "I'm trying to find some way to be gentle as I restore the dignity of that office," chuckled Rangel. "You gotta go, you gotta go."

Megan McGinn, a spokeswoman for Cheney, said: "We have not seen Congressman Rangel's comments, but it has always been our understanding that the vice president's office in the House of Representatives was on a temporary loan. As the president said this afternoon, we look forward to working with the new Congress on issues confronting this country."..... Despite his jab at Cheney, Rangel vowed to work across party lines to tackle issues such as Social Security. "The only way that we can solve these problems is by working with the Republicans," he said. "The president's going to have to decide whether he wants to be a lame-duck president." ....more at link.

5. I heard it on the news this morning, and had to find the article and put it up.
Charlie can deliver a zinger better than most people, and when it's directed at "Major League" himself, it's doubly rich. I was so annoyed when Snarlypuss appropriated that office in the first place--it did signal that the GOP delegation was just a bunch of stooges taking orders from Big Dick, and that was disturbing.

But now, since Dick is no longer "King of the Hill" he won't be needing that office, anymore, really. If he simply HAS to have a sit-down with Fat Denny, Boener, or whoever ends up as "MINORITY" leader, they can each take adjoining stalls in the first floor men's room!!!

22. It would be the Capitol Hill Police--the same crew that manhandled Cynthia McKinney
They'd have to manhandle BIG DICK .... sheesh, what a lousy job!

Big Dick's no fool, though. He'll go quietly. He never rated that office and he KNOWS it (he used to BE a congressman, after all). He just was able to bully Hastert into assigning it to him.

10. He's a helluva guy...the Daily News take on the story, here

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/469781p-395191c.html

... the veteran congressman offered a limp olive branch to the vice president yesterday, saying he regretted publicly calling him an SOB last week.

"I take back saying that publicly. I should have reserved that for him when we were together privately," said Rangel. "Believe me, he would have understood."...In the past, Rangel has branded the vice president a "draft dodger" and Cheney has predicted that Rangel would destroy the economy as head of the Ways and Means Committee.

Rangel, 76, will soon head the committee, which controls tax legislation and changes to Social Security and Medicaid. He shot down rumors that Democrats plan to raise taxes in 2010, when Republican-approved tax cuts will expire if they are not extended by Congress, and said that the country needs a bipartisan approach

"The American people have given the Democrats a great opportunity to provide leadership. I'm not certain they are in love with us, but one thing is certain is that they were not satisfied with the Republicans' leadership," said Rangel. "The only thing that is clear is that the way we can resolve these problems is by working with the Republicans."

9. Why would the VP have an office on the House side?
He's president of the Senate, so it makes sense to have an office there. But why would he have prime space in the House?

11. To personally "herd cats" during votes, and to keep the crew in line
He also held "ratfucking" meetings with senior House reps.

You know how there is an executive branch, and a legislative branch, and a judicial branch? Well, when the GOP had the House and Senate, there were only TWO branches...executive/legislative and judicial. And Cheney ran them both.

12. I have been trying to find out if this is tradition - or just
a Bush WH power grab. So far, no info.

KO should do a story on this - its his kind of thing.

Also, I wonder if anyone will be watching the repub rats flee the building - what about the computer keys, what about drawing on the walls with crayons, will anyone be filming the destruction ?

17. They should "sweep" the offices
to ensure there is no electronic surveillance apparatus left behind, too. And I do hope Dems have done a better job of installing firewalls and security in their Congressional computer systems.

21. The office has been historically reserved for the W+M chairman (or woman, one day)
It is a LUXURIOUS OFFICE. Ways and Means is the MOST important House committee, IMO, as it guards the purse strings. And we know that politics is certainly predicated on 'no money, no honey.'

The reason Fat Hastert gave Big Dick the office is so they could have "ratfucking" meetings, and develop an executive-legislative strategy to screw, pin down, humiliate and castrate any Democratic efforts at introducing legislation or fostering bipartisanship. It WAS a total power grab.

Never before has W/M had to give up that office--but since Fat Denny was Speaker, he kicked W/M out to accomodate Big Dick in an office that he DID NOT MERIT and SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD. His very PRESENCE working in the House was flat out WRONG. 'Gofuckyerself' does have a role as President of the Senate, and he has AN OFFICE on the Senate side. But hey, too much trouble for the flabby bastard to waddle over to the other side of the Hill and take a meeting in Denny's office, I guess...

Whenever there's a change in power, there's a bit of shuffling to do with the offices. It's pretty much agreed that the senior lions aren't going to be pushed around, but everyone else is fair game.

15. A dictatorship's power play
It was probably a way to intimidate Dems and maintain an oppresive presence in Congress. No doubt his staffers were there to keep an eye on everything that was going on in the House and exert Cheney's control over the process.

13. Whoo-hooo! Cheney even is more hateful than Bush & Rumsfeld!
Ain't it great that his daughter is a LESBIAN?!?!?!

And speaking of him being called a son of a bitch, let me share with the 2 or 3 of you who will read this my joke I made up after Barbara made her infamous comments about the Katrina refugees who were temporarily in the Astrodome in Houston -

"If we had any doubt that he was a son of a bitch before, now we don't".

I can't find the picture of the young Charlie Rangel in his Army uniform, but I assure you he was quite dashing. Here's a link to the documentary in which he comments:
