Ms. Nancy hoists Bush on his own petard...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/09/AR2006110900953.html?referrer=email

"In an apparent effort to demonstrate goodwill, Pelosi added that Democrats will take up the "innovation agenda" laid out by Bush nearly a year ago in his State of the Union address, and pass his proposals to increase funding for basic scientific research and alternative energy programs."
:applause:

"Alright, Mr. president, you said in your State of the Union speech as how you wanted to do this stuff...we'll help you with it!
Have some more rope...I mean, pasta salad?"

Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 01:31 PM by nickinSTL
use his own words (so far as they can be comprehended from the drivel he spews) against him!

on edit: Does this mean the Dems are going to work against those "human-animal hybrids", too?

11. Every single time
I see human/animal hybrids brought up in a mocking tone, I have to sigh. I don't think it's a joke. Two years before Bush ever mentioned it, Canada BANNED that line of research. That got me thinking. Why would Canada ban something that isn't even an issue?

Because it IS an issue. Unfortunately, all the bitching from the human/chimp hybrid in the WH isn't going to make the concept go away. If it's viable, I can virtually guarantee that China and N. Korea are investigating its potential.

So laugh all you want. Most of us sci-fi geeks are shaking our heads, saying "well, we already knew THIS was coming."

Of course, with each technological leap forward, we say that. Human cloning? LOL. We were discussing the possible permutations, ethical and otherwise, of that line of research 30 YEARS ago. The rest of the world seems a bit slow to us. While everyone else is holding their hands to their mouths and gasping, we're saying "yeah, yeah. That is SO last week. We tried to warn you, you called us geeks with our heads in the clouds, and that was that."

Science Fiction is the art of determining what MIGHT happen. And, so far, we've been pretty on-target about a lot of things. Human/animal hybrids are a real possibility--blending human and animal characteristics could make for some very dangerous soldiers.

As you can tell, I, for one, take this fairly seriously. As we all should, whether it came from the Chimperor or not. But I've been saying that since his little speech. And, surprise, surprise, no one is listening.

6. Dealing with Bush is like dealing with a small child.
"Did you want to complete your innovation agenda or did you want to take a nap now?"

Give them simple choices to make them feel like they have a bit of control

9. First he wants to go ride his bike, then cookies and milk, then nappy.
Indeed. The basic attitude Pelosi is setting is the correct one. A small petulant child needs to be carefully directed in his activities.

13. Let's see his choice in his terms. Does he protect
a large country full of peasants or does he protect his own class?

He's given us his answer to that so many times I wonder why people keep asking the question.

18. How does that work?

I know Clinton signed the treaty then the Republican Senate failed to ratify it. Does this president have to re-sign it? I would guess so or the Democratic Senate could have ratified it in 2002.
