On impeachment
Ok, ok I'll admit it, I want his chimpiness impeached, then indicted and then turned over to the FEDS and sent to Leavenworth and throw away the key

But as much as I want to have this happen there are several reasons why it probably will not.

1.- Our people are busy planting olive trees all over the place, why? As much as we hate them, (and some of us do), we still nominally need them because they are part of Congress... (In the minority YAAAYY)

2.- There probably were calls during the night where his Chimpiness was reminded who has the power now... and that power includes impeachment.

3.- Impeachment will take about two years, Yes we all have done investigations, even some in the basement, but since there was no subpoena guess what? They have to start from ground zero.... Most impeachments take what? Two years? His lame duckness has two years, you do the math... in the meantime we have otter fish to fry and prove that we can change the country in a way that will benefit joe and jane six pack.

4.- Here is the most critical reason folks... study your history. The reason they are so skittish is... there have been three in the history of the country, if you consider Nixon an Impeachment, technically the articles were ready to go but were never introduced. So the only TWO times that it was done, they were politically motivated, and the party doing it LOST seats the coming election. In other words our reps are afraid they don't have the capital to spend. Now if we all start hueing and crying and they see it... we may even see his chimpiness resign on his own accord... as to shooter, I am betting he is a coward of major proportions as well, so he will also go.

What does all of this means? If you really want it, posting on DU will get you nothing. You and ten of your Friends have to WRITE, I don't mean an EMAIL, physically print the letter, and send it to your reps. Whether they are republican or democrat does not matter. Copy that to the Majority Leader of the House, as well as the whip and the speaker.

You must also call shows

Write Letters to the editor.

In oater words, you want to prove to our very skittish dog that there is hunting down there, you have to show there is pray and that this dog will not get spanked with the paper if he takes down the squirrel.

1. Okay... following that logic.
Let's say that Congress sponsors a series of investigations into various scandals - Cheney's energy policy, lies about WMD, war profiteering, NSA wiretapping, etc. Meanwhile, time passes, it's suddenly 2008, and Bush/Cheney are no longer in the White House.

If the investigations clearly show criminal wrongdoing, would it be out of the question to press criminal charges in a public court of law even though the presidency has ended?

The United States of America v. George W. Bush and Richard Cheney....

Has a nice ring to it.

2. First and never has it been done
you can impeach a president after they leave office and convict in the senate... in fact it may be necessary due to all them pardons that you can bet are comming.

Second, yes you can try them after their term is over.

3. That's good.
Time is always of the essence. I'm glad to learn that justice is feasible even after their run at power has ended.
