John Kerry, Keeping America’s Promise Commitment Helps Bring Democrats to Victory

For the past two years, John Kerry and the 3 million person strong johnkerry.com online community of grassroots supporters have worked tirelessly on behalf of Democratic candidates running in the most critical races in the country. John Kerry gave early and often to arm the Democrats with the resources they needed to compete, and together with the johnkerry.com community threw a record amount of support behind Democratic candidates this cycle.

Below are highlights of John Kerry’s work this cycle that helped make a Democratic Congress a reality:

John Kerry gave away $14 million to over 260 Democratic candidates and committees in races up and down the ticket in nearly every state in the country.

John Kerry made it his personal mission to give the Democratic veteran candidates running for Congress the resources they needed to compete in this election. He gave $1.3 million to 31 veteran candidates this cycle. From throwing his early support behind Jim Webb, turning his primary race and giving nearly $400K to his campaign, to donating to veteran candidates like Joe Sestak early so they could run strong, well-funded campaigns from day one,

There is more. All of Kerry's efforts and ours needs to be acknowledged by our party. They figure you don't know this and they can keep on claiming they are the only ones due recognition.

8. Think about it....
look where the press release is coming from and question whether or not Kerry might be pandering a little bit to those who just might get a lot of recognition for this election: Howard Dean and the development of the Netroots. I think John Kerry would make a fine Sec of Defense or Sec of State, but believe his presidential days are over. He had his chance. And if I'm not mistaken (please correct me if I'm wrong) wasn't he more or less forced to donate the money he did by pressure?

The johnkerry.com community has been raising money for 2 years now for candidates throughout the country and has given millions to these candidates. Rahm Emmanuel himself has acknowledged that a few weeks earlier, when it was not yet fashionable to kick Kerry down.

He did not need to put this PR out. This had been in the news for months now. It is a thank you to those who participated. I wished I heard a thank you from Emmanuel and Schumer. It would have been great.

So yes, thank you senator Kerry and thank you chairman Dean.

28. One thing he never did was diss any other democrats except
Liebermann.

He went to bat for all of them whenever there was a controversy. He stuck up for Dean, Clinton, Murtha, and Webb--especially Murtha since Murtha was getting smeared by Republicans in droves.

WesPak did a lot. You don't see Kerry supporters complaining about them. I support Wes Clark and WesPak. I support the DNC I donated to them.

I just happen to like Kerry.. It is still America. We do complain about Republicans and RINO's like Liebermann

2002 and 2004, they could have been out there slugging away with the TRUTH. Instead they just let all the crap get thrown because they never had any INTENTION of winning.

Rahm was the genius, yes? At least that's the bowl of shit they are trying to spoonfeed us...

The fact is...Kerry, Dean and the grassroots effort is what put us over the top. Ask Harold Ford how the DLC, Carville and Rahm helped his election bid.

Pander to the RW and look where it gets you...

But it was thanks to Kerry and Dean's efforts that I dug deep and gave it. I sincerely believe we would not have gotten those crucial senate seats (particularly Webb and McCaskill) without them.

Thank you John Kerry and Howard Dean!

15. I donated quite a bit through John Kerry's emails.
Every candidate I contributed with the exception of Harold Ford one. Those contributions were made through John Kerry's email. I contributed on several different occasions. I would never donated to and individual campaign without his prompting.

18. The support for Joe Sestak
early on, probably made the difference in that race.

Also, I was talking to a local activist who is not particularly a Kerry fan, who said one race she's SURE Kerry made the difference, was Patrick Murphy in PA-08. No way (she said) Murphy would have pulled that out without the boost he got from Kerry.

That said, Dean's 50-state strategy laid the foundation for supporting candidates in areas we might not have won. A year ago, who'd a thunk Sherwood would implode? And thanks to Dean, PA had organizers in place to take advantage of that when it happened, and we picked up the seat. I'm convinced we would have done worse all around PA if it wasn't for Dean placing organizers here. And doing just a little bit worse would have cost us at least two seats, imo.

So, to Dean and Kerry:

:yourock:

22. Yes, Dean and Kerry should get kudos
And, really, I don't want to go against the DC people, either, for they made contributions that worked for us, too. I'm puzzled that everybody is trying to take credit at the expense of others when, in fact, all of those efforts together made the Democrats such an effective team.

I'm proud of the donations I gave to KAP, as well as being inspired by Kerry to volunteer locally. And I'm saddened by remarks by Carville -- we need to stay a team to fight Bush. The Bolton nomination move is just the beginning of the shenanigans he's going to pull.

23. This is an example of John Kerry at his best
...fighting the good fight and also all his work he does on behalf of the environment.

I often criticize him as a campaigner, but outside of that, he deserves all the credit in the world. Good work, John. All the hard work did pay off!

26. In 24 hours he raised 1 million for 4 crucial senate races.
Imagine what might of happened if he hadn't done that. Remember, our out of touch leaders weren't concerned about the Senate because they thought it was a long shot- they concentrated on the house.

32. I am not a huge Kerry fan, but he has definately taken an unfair beating
Katie Couric was talking about his "botched joke" saying that a whole 18% of voters felt that comment would influence their vote. Of course she never mentioned how many of those people who's votes were "influenced" were really Republicans who were going to vote Republican either way. The corporate media just plain sucks.
