US training Latin American & Caribbean militias
This is more than strange with announcement of an Iran-Contra figure to replace Rumsfeld.

Are we going to relive history?

U.S. seeks better ties by aiding militaries
    Updated 11/10/2006 8:09 AM ET
    By Barbara Slavin, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — Concern about leftist victories in Latin America has prompted President Bush to quietly grant a waiver that allows the United States to resume training militaries from 11 Latin American and Caribbean countries.

The administration hopes the training will forge links with countries in the region and blunt a leftward trend. Daniel Ortega, a nemesis of the United States in the region during the 1980s, was elected president in Nicaragua this week. Bolivians chose another leftist, Evo Morales, last year. A military training ban was originally designed to pressure countries into exempting U.S. soldiers from war crimes trials.

The 2002 U.S. law bars countries from receiving military aid and training if they refuse to promise immunity from prosecution to U.S. servicemembers who might get hauled before the International Criminal Court. The law allows presidential waivers.

The White House lifted the ban on 21 countries, about half in Latin America or the Caribbean, through a presidential memorandum Oct. 2 to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The training is conducted in the USA. ...

2. They shot themselves in the foot with the immunity law demands.
This is an admission of defeat on the subject.

3. They haven't brought enough ruination to Iraq, and to this country--they
now have to go destroy democracies in Latin America!

And don't think they aren't. $600 million of our tax dollars to Columbia military/paramilitry death squads this year alone. A whole new state-of-the-art military air base in Paraguay, where the Bush Cartel is purchasing a 200,000 acre enclave from which to plot the tortures and deaths of peasants and leftists, and the downfall of the magnificent democracy movement that has swept Latin America. When they've bled us dry, doing the prep for all this, they'll turn it into private Bush Cartel war, out of the venue of the U.S. Congress.

I figure that's where Rumsfeld is headed. Paraguay. It's a weak government, easy pickins, and Plan Columbia is already moving in. First target: Bolivia.

My friends, we have got to put pressure on this new Democratic Congress to stop this, if they can. We should be honoring democratic governments, and praising their success at helping the poor. We should be inviting these leaders to our country, and sending Congressional delegations there, to review their progress, and ALSO to investigate ILLEGAL Bush regime funding of opposition political parties in these countries, and other inteference, including the 2002 violent coup attempt against Hugo Chavez, and other violent activities and plots.

4. How do we get the new Democratic Congress to stop it?
They aren't even talking about it. Oh, no! The most they will say is "no impeachment on our table." That would tie all the mess up together.

So far I see Bush/Cheney playing them like a fiddle. Stop going to the White House to have breakfast and lunch! Their work is in the US Capitol Building.

I don't eat with my enemies.
