1. darn--it's ended--if you can catch the re-run later, please do!
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 06:40 PM by spooky3
He talked about the shift in wealth to the very top (why the stock market's ascent is good really for only a tiny % of the population); CEO pay going up while wages and salaries for the workers stay stagnant; lack of accountability of corporations; he's not anti-corporation but wants to see some justice, etc.

He thanked Dobbs for bringing some of these issues "to the fore" and Dobbs said Webb clearly had the character to do what's needed in the Senate and wished him well (I can't remember the exact words).

6. I thought Webb's campaign ad was particularly effective
when he said "our leaders aren't fighting for you. I will."

That had to resonate with a lot of people.

8. I heard today (News Hour, I think) that he has called on the
Admin. to hold off on Gates (essentially the the Rummy replacement) until the new Congress comes in. Did he say anything like this during the interview?

11. I know he said that last night...

Geez been watching so many interviews with him....but think it was on KO. OR Larry King. He wants to be able to question Gates...hold off until the new congress comes in.

It was on HardBall...even Chris was blown away with our new Senator. He didn't try to flux him at all. Although, he threw him a hardball question in the beginning...but they both laughed as Webb was smooth.

18. Living here in Hawaii
it was hard for me to follow his campaign as closely as I would have liked.

Allen got all the media coverage, mostly because he was such an idiot.

7. Webb Was Wondeful...
...would not be pigeon-holed as just an anti-war Dem . His
campaign stressed social fairness issues as well. Great new
spokesperson for our side.

14. Was a republican but disagreed with the Bush policies.
He said, I was a republican, but disagreed with the Iraq policies so I RETURNED to being a Democrat. So evidently he was originaly a Dem....I just love the man...he is so intelligent and really cares about the middleclass fairness....he is going to be a great Senator....glad to have him aboard

13. Sorry I missed it...
It was great to know that my vote counted for once in a long time! I read of him making simlar points earlier today on NPR...damn that's kicking! He's got a great perspective on what's going wrong for significant numbers of Americans.

:kick:

16. Why the media couldn't find time to talk with him BEFORE the
election, I don't understand. (Actually, I do have an idea as to why, another sad comment on our media.) I didn't see him on anything.

19. Ain't it the pathetic truth...
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 07:44 PM by Marrak
another illustration on why we need campaign and election reform...the election cycles are too damn short and the risk aversion of the incumbent and all the concomitant inefficiences...there's barely time and effort to put into carrying out the nation's business in a sane fashion. I'd push to have Presidential elections every six (6) years with a one-term limit. I'd increase the house term to four (4) years. Give 'em a shovel and set 'em to work...a whole barn-load a shit needs'a shovelling...
