The truth about 2006 Democratic victories, it was a team effort and there is no I in team
DUers I'm sick of this shit! Let's quit our damned infighting, regroup (hey you guys WE WON!) and prepare for two things, Democratic control over both houses of Congress and winning the White House in 2008. What is pissing me off is DUers are fighting about who was responsible, I have news for you all, every Democrat from elected official, to party leaders, to big dollar donors to the grass/netroots was responsible. This Dean v. Emanual v. Schumer v. Pelosi v. Reid v. DLC v. PDA/DFA v. MoveOn.org v. everyone else crap has to stop.

Dean ran a successful 50 state strategy and lead the party.

Emanuel recruited and backed a great slate of candidates, even making an impact in losing efforts causing the GOP to stretched its resources far and wide.

Schumer recruited and backed a great slate of candidates, even making an impact in losing efforts causing the GOP to stretched its resources far and wide.

MoveOn.org, PDA/DFA and the grass/netroots blogged, volunteered, contributed and got out the vote.

Terry Terry McAuliffe was there to debate Mehlman when necessary.

Carville, Begala, Lockhart, Pinetta and others that many DUers tell to STFU fought the good fight on the airwaves and provided much needed behind the scenes counsel.

Pelosi and Reid lead their respective caucuses in a manner that gave voters confidence in Democrats as viable alternative to Republicans.

The Democratic Senate leaders who kept Lieberman with the caucus giving us control.

Clark, Kerry, Obama and Bill Clinton lent their star power to boost our candidates.

The list goes on.

Will everyone quit their bickering on DU (I can't stop the insiders from fighting) and just realize the EVERYONE played a role in this and all of them came together to give us victory.

Come folks quit the infighting and prepare to support our Democratic men and women as they take control over Congress and lay the ground work for victory in 2008.

1. WE did it
Those who went door-to-door, phone banking, lit drops, wrote letters to the editor. Even if all you did was drop off dinner at your local campaign headquarters or made a donation. WE did it. WE, the Democratic Party. All of us, together. Including all of those at the top. They couldn't do it without us, the roots.

6. Yup
There are many of us who just got out and wore out a couple of pairs of shoes, shivered in the rain, cooked for those stuck in the office, ran errands, made copies and wore our ears out not to mention what we did to our mobile bills. Not all of us need a national party leader to do the right things, some of us know how and get out and do it.

YAY us, we did it, each and every one of us.

2. You know that team member who wants so badly to be THE STAR
that if the other team members don't invest all of their energy into making him THE STAR the kid will actually start to sabotage the team?

THE STAR doesn't give a shit about the team -- and will destroy the team if he doesn't get his way. Like Joe Lieberman helping to elect Republicans in CT by dragging them to the polls to vote for him.

Sorry, but some team members are full of SHIT - and there is an I in shit.

:(

4. Well spoken
I second what you say here.

I haven't seen the infighting you're talking about, as I haven't been in many places on DU the past couple of days, but know how things usually go around here, I'm sure there's been plenty of it.

There's lots of pats on the back to be spread around and it doesn't matter how it happened. The important thing is that we did it -- all of us did it and we should be proud.

I've been a bit bummed out because the candidate I worked my tail off for, Nancy Skinner in MI-09, lost by about 14,000 votes (plus I've had an awful sinus infection), but I'm starting to come out of my funk and feel victorious all the same for what we've all accomplished as a party.

Let's hear it for Democrats and DUers!!!!!

. . .who deserves credit for our victory because at the end of the day all they do is divide us.

15. The battle was started by Carville, and a lady named Lisa Caputo
last night on Hardball. They specifically started things. She with her ignorance of party groups, saying she gave no credit to Dean for state houses and governorships..but said Rahm was her buddy so she gave it to him. Funny thing about that though, Rahm doesn't do state houses and governorships...the DNC and DLCC do those and the DGA. Well, she showed her ignorance but she started it.

Then Carvile makes an unsolicited call to the NYT to attack Dean and praise the RNC. Then he talks with TNR to further the damage.

So I started nothing, and I said in this post that I feel everyone deserves credit. I mean that.

But I did not start the attacks.

No, but you led the parade in no fewer than six threads between GD and GD-P, and you deserve every bit of recognition for that. Starting with posting the factually anorexic blog blurb http://rawstory.com/showoutarticle.php?src=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tnr.com%2Fblog%2Ftheplank%3Fpid%3D56467 that makes unsubstantiated, undocumented claims, all the way to completely misrepresenting what Lisa Caputo said on Hardball (yeah, some of us actually saw it), you remind me of a girl in junior high school who was the self-appointed town-crier of gossip for a cadre of the "regular kids" who worshiped the kids in the upper echelon from afar, passing on gossip as if it were the lifeblood of their existence, acting out an emotional investment in the lives of people who probably didn't even know their names, yet first to text-message vital updates on the gossip de jour ...

OMG. VANESSA JUST TM'D ME THAT SHE HEARD FROM DUSTIN IN MATH THAT TIFFANY OVERHEARD RYAN AND BRAD AT BREAK SAYING THAT JAMES WAS LATE FOR FOOTBALL PRACTICE AND THAT SHE SAW JENNIFER CRYING BEHIND THE LIBRARY ABOUT 15 MINUTES AGO. VICKI HEARD FROM SOME KID IN THE LUNCH LINE THAT JENNIFER LOST HEAD CHEERLEADER TO AMBER BUT I HEARD AMBER WAS TALKING TO JAMES AND I THINK THAT'S WHY JENNIFER WAS CRYING. OMG. JENNIFER IS SO AWESOME. IN 8TH GRADE SHE ASKED ME IF MY MOM COULD GIVE HER A RIDE TO THE MALL AND THEN LAST YEAR SHE BORROWED A DOLLAR FROM ME. SHE IS SO COOL. DALLAS SAID TO JIMMY THAT AMBER IS SUCH A HO AND SHE'S MACKING ON JAMES. WE HAVE TO TOTALLY ALL WEAR BLACK ARM BANDS TO SCHOOL TOMORROW TO PROTEST THIS BREAKUP AND NOBODY TALK TO AMBER BECAUSE SHE IS A SKANK HO. CALL ME TONIGHT.

Ah, good times.

22. Um, thank you?
I don't know about you but I get weary of these jihads de jour declared on entities for saying or not saying or doing or not doing something, often not clear and often not substantiated, that doesn't sit well with someone.

And that thorough trashing lasts a day or two, subsides, and the next week that entity is praised for having golden nads because they said something or did something deemed fabulous.

Too much spare emotional energy, too much bandwidth.

I applaud Dean and Emanuel and everyone else that worked their hinies off to deliver this victory. And all this whining just serves to take the edge off that buzz.

14. True enough, but it was Carville who started this and MSM picked it up
So whatever you insist he did well is overshadowed by the bad publicity he is CREATING for us.
No one here started the "it was all Dean, the rest should STFU". The STFU came AFTER he open his big hateful opportunistic mouth. Just for historical perspective.
