2. Bolton may still have the job, he just won't have a PAYCHECK
Unless Monkey appoints Bolton to a non-advise-and-consent-job with similar pay, and then DETAILS him (recess appointment once again) back to the UN.

It's entirely likely that will happen. As likely as anything. Just depends on how "shirty" Monkey gets after all of his recent humiliations.

4. that is not going to happen
there is not 1 republican in the Team Bush crowd that does not have a wallet where his
heart should be, work for free is not in their nature.

6. Uh, did you read my post? There's no working for free in it.
Monkey appoints him to a position that does NOT require advise-and-consent. Monkey then DETAILS him to the UN job. He gets a paycheck, but it ain't for the work he is doing.

Do you think the man is working for free NOW? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. His pay comes from CONDI's shop, where he still has a J-O-B there.

9. Oh, of course, silly me
so that's how it's done. But I don't think that he can be assigned to the UN, I thought
the position requires formal approval, I know that recess appointment is possible but he
has already pulled that stunt once with Bolton.

11. He can do it again. Bolton's recess appointment expires in January
when the 110th Congress convenes. The millisecond they take one of their famous 'recesses' (like around President's Day in February) he reappoints him AGAIN. The Number Two minds the store in the meantime.

It would be a shitty thing to do, but Monkeyboy ain't above doing shitty things, as we well know. See here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/01/20060104-3.html and here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/08/20060831-2.html and here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/04/20040416-7.html and here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/07/20040701-11.html and on, and on, and on. He uses the recess appointment more than any other President I remember. It's his big "fuck you" to the Congress. He might as well stand up and bellow "Yer not the BOSS a-ME!!!" like a five year old.

And because it is a recess appointment, it stands until the end of the session of the 110th Congress. Of course, if the Democratic Congress takes fewer recesses, and they're all forced to WORK for a change, he might have more trouble and will have to leave the job open until much later.

12. Yes, I know about the other recess appointments
which never fail to impress with how he thinks that he is the sole power in Washington.
But I think the old man is weighing in heavily now, and if they want the old man to help,
the rumor is that Bolton has to G O N E. And we all know that Bush world consists solely
of himself. A majority of one/all the time.

14. Yeah, heh heh, he's the DECIDER!! An' HE decides!!!
Of course, now that Poppy has him by the ear, things should improve. How ironic that Poppy gets to, at long last, do his second term in the last two years of his son's Presidencius Horribilus!

You can see the hand of Poppy on his shoulder (or more correctly, the finger and thumb of Poppy pinching tightly on Junior's ear).

I really hope you are right about Bolton--it would certainly work for me!

13. Chafee
I would welcome Chafee with open arms to the Democratic Party. He's already voting correctly on cultural issues like abortion and gay rights.
