1. 27% of those describing themselves as "liberal" voted for Lieberman. |
|
That's the most facinating statistic to me.

3. 12% of 'liberals' voted for George Allen? |
|
Of course, there are always some people who just get confused by the questions; but still....

People who are interested in how our candidates won & lost these elections.
"Who cares what CNN or the braindead that watch it think"
Uhh... these figures have nothing to do with "what CNN thinks" OR what "the braindead that watch it think." You know what an exit poll is, right?

6. One thing to remember as to how people ID themselves.... |
|
...is the two decade long campaign of Republican stategists to transform "liberal" a pejorative term. I know people who when talking politics you can tell are libs but they insist they are mods. I wouldn't be surprised if anywhere from 5-10% or more of those identifying themselves moderates (or even conservative) are actually liberals or at least weak liberals whom are afraid to admit it because of perceived negative connotations.

7. That's the drift we're looking for in Virginia |
|
In 2004 it was 17% liberal, 38% conservative.
So a change to 21% liberal, 35% conservative turns a net -21 into -14. That's significantly more margin for error.
Looking at those numbers, it's clear Allen woud have been re-elected if this race has been run in 2004.
Lots of small movement in our favor among the other states, but Virginia seems to stand out.

seems to be:
In a blue state, where liberals outnumber conservatives, we can run a moderate/liberal, catch the moderate vote, and win handily.
In a red state, where conservatives outnumber liberals, we can run a moderate/conservative, catch the moderate vote, and win handily.
What we did right this time was to run more moderate candidates in red states. They went toe to toe with the Republican rightwing candidates and won.
It's not rocket science. If we run a moderate in '08, we will take back the WH.

10. Liberal-Conservative describes only one dimension |
|
To me, the Libertarian-Authoritarian dimension is just as important.

11. "Moderate" is not an ideology |
|
Its a lack of conviction.

12. I disagree. But either way, those people with a lack of conviction helped us win. nt |
