The Local Democrat and Chronicle(Rochester, NY) calls for the
dismissal/resignation of both Cheney and Rove if Bush wants to put the best face forward on cooperation and moving ahead.

2. Which is surprising, IMO...
The D&C is such a horribly right-wing publication. Most times the Op-Ed/Editorials prove this sentiment. I'd rather read City.

4. Here's the link for the editorial:
http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061112/OPINION04/611120335/1041/OPINION

(November 12, 2006) — In the Bush administration, there's more than one symbol of the death-dealing misadventure known as the Iraq war. Bush aptly jettisoned one of them last week — Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

There are two more to go.

They are: Vice President Dick Cheney, he of the insistently unapologetic attitude that the administration is right and doubters are allies of terrorists, and political shaman Karl Rove, who, until last Tuesday, was a genius at wrapping Rumsfeld's and Cheney's (and Bush's) failed war policy in fear and trembling.

<snip>

The usual take on Cheney quitting is that elected vice presidents are somehow immune from resignation. It's true that most VPs have stuck it out as long as their presidents. But then most VPs were high-level ribbon-cutters. Cheney is a true power behind the throne, and sometimes in front of it.

Besides, two vice presidents have resigned: Spiro Agnew after pleading to a bribery charge and John C. Calhoun, who quit to take a seat in the Senate. Cheney could take his leave with the noble idea of helping the president and his country put failure behind them.

</snip>

5. The words noble and Cheney don't
exist in the same time/space continuum. The creature is amoral.

6. I would disagree strongly
any move of this sort would be purely for show. Rove & continue to run the PR arm and the policy arm respectively anyway. Putting lipstick on that pig won't help anything.

11. That's bizzarro
Last week they endorsed Reynolds! Reynolds and Rove were (were being the operative word) best buds. Rove brought a wheel barrel full of money wrapped up in a FEMA bow after Buffalo's freak snowstorm and it was coincidently delivered a few hours after Reynolds testified in the Foley page hearings. Reynolds bragged that he could talk to Rove any time he wanted to. Rove came and campaigned for him!

I'm also from the Rochester area - Reynolds district!

16. I'm new
Been lurking since '04 elections. Fellow DU'er that I have been volunteering with at Gen Co HQ's made me sign up on Monday so I wouldn't be shut out on election night when the traffic was high.

You must be in Louise's district. We fought very hard to try to unseat Reynolds. Can't understand the D & C's editorial staff writing this scathing redress of Cheney and Rove. Not that I don't agree, just seems hypocritical when they gave the Bush rubber stamper the endorsement over Davis. What a difference a week makes.
