45. You bet! I still believe Al Gore should've ignored the DLC and then |
|
....Terry McAuliffe's DNC back in 2003 when it was rumored that they wouldn't back him when, on the other hand, the nation was calling for him to run since it was a public secret the 2000 Pres. Election was stolen from him in Florida (and god only knows where else!), and he was the rightful winner.
Instead, the DNC under McAuliffe and the DLC anointed John Kerry (somehow the polls in Iowa were completely wrong in showing it was Howard Dean that would've won), and the rest is a sad history. It was as if the DLC and DNC back then wanted a "weak" candidate!
Anyhow, Al Gore is still my first choice. If he doesn't run, I have no idea who I'd prefer---maybe General Wesley Clarke, whom I've come to like a great deal. Hopefully he'll make a comeback in 2007.

what kind of steam Clark and Obama would have, too. It would be between those 3 for me, as things stand right now.

but he is lacking enough experience other than being in the senate for two years. He needs to remain a senator and then run for Governor. Americans like presidents who have been Governors. Obama could even be someone's vice-president, but IMHO, Obama should wait awhile. I would vote for him if he gets the nomination however. BUT, I will support the democratic candidate, regardless of who it is.

I'm not sure he's the best candidate from the standpoint of 'electable in a general election' (I know he was close in 2000 but this is not 2000). I will whole-heartedly support him if he wins the nomination.

Mark Warner was my second choice. Gore is in my top 5. I'm still looking for someone no one had ever thought of to emerge, but it's almost getting late in the game for that. I guess you never know what will pop up though.

But even then, Gore will have to prove to me that he's ready to bring it to both the GOP and the MSM. He didn't stand up for himself during the '00 Flordia re-count, then he broke our hearts by mysteriously dropping out in '04. And I still haven't forgiven Tipper for her music lyrics nonsense.

Clark/Gore would be a good ticket. Many people don't like Gore in the Rethug party. I think Clark has the best shot at winning in a general election. He could pick up more Southern states than Gore and after so many Rethugs have gotten to know Clark from FOX News...they would vote for him over Gore. Besides...I like what Gore is doing now and he's good at it and we need his enthusiasm to save our environment.

I've had moments when I thought he was the answer. By the time the primaries get here, we'll know who's running strongly. If Clark or Edwards were looking good at that point, I'd have to consider them in that order. My heart's with Clark at this particular moment in history, but by the time it got to us last time, his candidacy was over.

*If* he did, I'd have to decide whether or not to advise Americans to vote for him (I'm not one, so I couldn't and hence wouldn't), but as a staunch opponent of conscription, I'm currently ruling out Gore (and Feingold) from the list of people I'd consider supporting for president.

He's the best man for the job.
The only way I would not support him is if he morphed back into the "Woodman" hypercautious, condescending mode of the 2000 campeign.
That is if he runs, of course, which is not certain at this time.
