Who else would you like to see run, honestly? |
|
because if Gore has said a definitive "No", then who else is truly electable?

2. Barbara Boxer, Russ Feingold, Dennis Kucinich all come to mind.... |
|
I'm tired of political triangulation. It's time to run candidates who STAND for something!

I want a candidate who will stand and work to the last breath for:
universal, single-payer, not-for-profit health care
peace
the repeal of nafta and the end of the wto
election reform: hand counted paper ballots, proportional representation, IRV, 100% publicly funded campaigns for all
fairness doctrine
re-regulation of all privatized services
safe, sound, affordable housing for all
universal public preschool - college or trade school with no curriculum or test scores attached
a living wage
civil liberties
environmental responsibility
sustainable energy sources/policies
no corporate personhood
healing, rebuilding, remodeling all of the war zones, slums, etc. inside our own borders
Is that enough to stand for?

4. Someone at least a little left of center, please |
|
If someone at least a little left of center doesn't get involved pretty quick, I'm sitting out the '08 Presidential cycle.
I'll vote for the nominee, but I'll spend my time and effort on some race down the ticket.

7. Richardson of NM might run. Not a lot of love for him here, fwiw. |
|
I like the sound of Schweitzer and Sebelius because they are pretty progressive and pretty popular but in very red states.

9. " who else is truly electable?" |
|
Therein lies the problem for now. Time will tell, right now I like Edwards, but is he electable? I don't know yet. Of course I will back whatever Dem wins the primary!!

14. My concern with Edwards (and I have concerns with every candidate) is that |
|
1. He is a senator. We have had 2 senators elected president in a the last century. Why? IMO it is because they are easier to smear 2. He wouldn't win his homestate. NC is too red, and he wasn't that popular of a senator there. We need all the electoral votes we can get.
Maybe he will be the best person for the job but we will have to see who else runs.

She's a great campaigner and a good Governor.
I'm hoping for Gore but if he's out I will just wait and see who comes forward.

21. Nancy Pelosi! If she cleans up Congress & gets good bills passed, |
|
the American people will respect her, and "liberal" may not be a dirty word anymore. She will certainly have name recognition and be viewed in a positive light by many.
Also more people trust women in politics than men. (How many corrupt women, even among the Republicans, can you name? With the exception of Katherine Harris, they are few and far between.)
