Fellow Feingoldians, where are you headed?
Have you a second choice to switch to, now that Feingold is out? What are your criteria for finding someone else if you don't have a second choice?

I don't. I promised myself that this election I would vote in the primary with my heart. I won't succumb to any electability arguments. I want the person that most represents me, and who would perform the best. Power for power's sake is pointless, and harmful. When other people try to sell me their candidate, those are the two criteria: competence, and representation.

1. not entirely sure.
I'm willing to listen to electability arguments as long as the candidate makes for a *sensible* compromise (that was my position on Dean in 04). I'm looking at Clark and Edwards.

2. I have no idea.
My favorite senator is no longer interested in leading this party into the Presidency.
He would have been a principled, idealistic leader, a progressive in the Wisconsinite tradition - it brought us the New Deal, and has kept that state among the most illuminated in the union.
He would have made history.

5. He was one of several people I'm excited about.

It would have been difficult to support someone else against a man with Feingold's record. I was waiting to see who actually runs. Since he's out it will either be Edwards, Gore or Obama, depending on who gets in it. I feel like all of them could get elected and I won't have to sacrifice my progressive ideals.

9. I felt that way about Edwards in '03
but I grew more impressed with him during the primary and I couldn't be more impressed with what he has done with his time since '04. Touring the nation with UFCW on their Wal-Mart campaign and visiting Darfur aren't milquetoast issues, imo.

10. Well, I ought to pay more attention to him, then.
Is there a particular position he has had, concerning that @(%&$* PATRIOT act, that you could refer me to?

22. Well, I knew Obama when he was an Illinois State Senator
and have always seen him as a man of principle that stands for progressive issues. I'd have a hard time choosing between Obama and Edwards.

18. Haven't decided.
But it's comforting to know there will be a Senator of Feingold's caliber on our side in the Senate. Plus, he's only 53 --- not 83!

23. Possible. Feingold is not up for reelection in Wisconsin until 2010.
As much as I like Feingold, I have doubts that he could ever be elected president and that is the point. He is too honest. It will be an honor to have him as one of my senators for many years though if he does not run for VP.

24. I would look to my candidate for guidance :)
Whomever s/he would throw their weight behind, I would probably follow. Without officially endorsing them, I think Russ said he liked Gore and Obama. Hope that helps :grouphug:

28. No clue

This was the guy I had hitched my wagon too, but with him pulling out I'll just wait to see who surfaces...there may be a great gov out there that I am unfamiliar with. I don't want Hilliary...I'm tired of debating and hashing out the Clinton years...Ready for a new face on that front.

If it were up to me...Congressman Udall would be fine.

29. So far, Gore is it.
Other than the obvious, reasons I will NOT vote for any Democratic candidate:

1) If they voted for the IWR (provided they were in the House/Senate at the time.)
2) Are currently a member of the DLC.
3) If they were for the Iraqi war before they were against it.
4) If they were anti-choice before they were pro-choice.
5) If they voted for the bankruptcy bill, for the toruture bill, Patriot Act I or II or to confirm Alito or Roberts.
6) If they do not come out publically to endorse gay marriage.
7) If most of their donations come from corporations.
8) If they allow party "consultants" to run their campaign (goddess spare me the earthtones crap again).

I'm sure there are others but that's what I can think up at the moment.
