Rove didn't want Fitzgerald to get U.S. attorney's post.
Well before anyone knew Valerie Plame's name, Karl had objected to Patrick Fitzgerald getting the post in Chicago because he was not considered an insider, and because Rove feared that Fitz's independence might mean aggressive pursuit of Republican Governor George Ryan.

Before Patrick Fitzgerald became the special prosecutor for PlameGate, he was first appointed as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois (Chicago), where he still serves in that position.
According to the former maverick Republican senator who recommended Fitzgerald for the position, Rove didn't want an "outsider" to come into the job. (Fitzgerald was a New York federal prosecutor at the time.)

The implication was that the White House wanted someone who would not prosecute or less aggressively pursue then Republican Governor George Ryan -- or pose prosecutorial danger to Illinois Republicans.

The U.S. Senator at the time, Peter Fitzgerald (no relation to the U.S. Attorney), didn't listen to Rove or other Republican higher-ups who wanted a more partisan U.S. Attorney in the key Chicago position.

Karl probably wishes he'd fought a little hard to get his way, in retrospect.

3. That's a pretty funny web site!
(You sure they're not pulling our legs--I mean, did Rove REALLY not want an "outsider" investigating Republicans? That can't be true, shirly!)

5. Please,
don't call me Shirley.

Add the name of former U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald to the list of heroes that includes James Comey, Joe Wilson, and others without whom the WH "earthmovers" would have buried this crime.

15. In the early part of the 20th century there were a number of
names used for both genders that now have become used only in one.

Marion
Shirley
Gene

I used to know a few others but have forgotten them.

4. Fortunately, no one gives a fuck what
KKKarl thinks or wants anymore. Poppy and his team actually fired Rove when he worked for them, for his (gasp! shock! horror!) dirty tricks. Hopefully, now that the neocons are finally out and that gang is back in control somewhat, they might just persuade the Boy King to finally dump that motherfucker and consign him to the dustbin once and for all.

7. well ryan and george -did not like each other-
Edited on Sun Nov-12-06 09:15 PM by madrchsod
ryan and george got into a pissing contest during their respective governorships over putting innocent people to death. ryan was way to liberal for the likes of the neocons. fitzgerald was brought to chicago by fitzgerald to go after the democratic machine of daley and company. fitzgerald went after ryan because that is the case that came up first but now he`s going after daley and the machine.
many republicans in this state rejected the hard line that karl and his troops wanted the republicans to follow.poor karl, he was not very succesfull in illinois this year because the democrats gained even more control in illinois
