Were my "eqaul protection of the laws" rights violated in this election?
Was reading Howard Zinn's "A Peoples History of the United States" this weekend and the final chapter is a brief telling of what happened in the 2000 election. He reminded me that the conservatives on the Court said that "the recounting violated the constitutional requirement for 'equal protection of the laws' because there were different standards in different counties of Florida for counting votes".

Well, there were different standards in Texas for casting ballots. I specifically asked for a paper ballot, but was denied one (they claimed they didnt have any) at my polling place. Yet I have read here on DU that other Texans were allowed to use a paper ballot. In fact, this story talks about how Collin County, which is appearantly one of the most Republican counties in the state, was late in getting its votes tallied because so many people asked for and were given paper ballots.

2. SCOTUS judges said B vs G could NEVER be used as precedent
This is 1 of the many clues that the 12-12 decision was illegitimate.

3. Read Zinn's "Passionate Declarations"
He makes a good argument that precedant rarely exists in the Supreme Court. Class is the defining characteristic of a lot of these cases.
