Newsweek poll 2008
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 10:06 AM by ProSense

Note, Republicans win even though the same poll indicates:

"Now thinking ahead to the next presidential election in November 2008 -- In general, would you rather see a Republican or a Democrat elected as our next president in 2008?"

Republican 28%
Democrat 48%
Other Party (vol.) 4%
Unsure 20%

5. It says 10 percent.

This poll is waaay too early, and we shouldn't let it influence us too much.

2. Who's Hunter?
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 10:01 AM by Wickerman
They leave off Vilsack, Clinton, and Richardson and give us Hunter, the ultimate outside shot? I guess they needed a Repub?

6. Hunter
has declared he's running, some rw congressman. Clinton is on the list, she has a very high negative - it's going to be tough to overcome the people who would never vote for her. Those people will never change their minds.

They should have included Vilsack (though this was taken before he declared) and Clark. It's not like they only included declared candidates, they did a little picking and choosing.

11. posted too early after I got up
Meant to type Clark, not Clinton. Quite a lot of picking and choosing, indeed.

12. Of course not!
The media does it's gosh-darned best to even KEEP from mentioning him because he would actually flip some red states and he would try to get the Fairness Doctrine back on the books, thus cutting into the media's precious bucks.

16. Clark did poorly in the 2004 primaries
That's why he's not a frontrunner, he was given the ball in 2004 and couldn't run with it. He faded away with Dean, Gephardt and the rest. I don't know why people keep mentioning him.

4. Good numbers for Edwards
THe thing to look at in this poll is the negatives. Anyone over 50 is damaged goods, imho.

8. These polls always have
Hilary looking good on the for side, but at the same time she looks bad on the against side. They are trying hard to protray her as as a moderate so that she can bring in some of the conservative vote.

10. Neocon kool-aid drinking McCain will not be able to beat Romney in the primaries, as Romney favorite
of their base--Christian conservatives.

14. A very large portion of Christian conservatives
Will not vote for Romney because he's a Mormon. Especially in the South.

But they won't vote for McCain or Giuliani either.

13. Conclusion: Republicans have best chance of winning; only 28% want to elect a Rep.
Interesting contradiction that shows how relevant these polls are to the
Party choosing its leadership.

17. I think and therefore I am.
Don't let the press make decisions for us. Look at every person thoughtfully and make a choice. Don't let them makeup shyte. Pass people were right for the time maybe but the press did a bad thing. They insisted they knew better and gave us bad info about the dems and only good stuff about the gop. We should discuss the pros and cons among ourselves and try to get the best person and then go out and work like hell. Gore is great, Kerry is fine, Finegold is wonderful, Pelosi is a strong leader. Dean is my choice right now. Lets get smart and stop trashing.
