SurveyUSA has polled 60 possible head-to-head matchups for 2008, in all 50 states, and determined the Electoral College outcome (as of now) for these matchups. As they say on their site, some pairings result in landslide victories, others in the closest races since Reconstruction (I think I might have found that one).

You get one for free when you go to the site, and you can click on one state to see the actual percentages of the vote. If you want all of the results, with percentages etc., you have to pay $49. If you want all kinds of detailed inside numbers, you have to pay a lot.

I checked out Edwards vs. McCain, and I think that just might be the closest one since Reconstruction that they were talking about. The result was McCain 272, Edwards 266, only because McCain somehow squeaks out Pennsylvania 44%-41% (I think Edwards would overcome that narrow margin in the real thing). Edwards beats McCain in both North Carolina and South Carolina.

Anybody find any other interesting results?

2. John McCain vs. John Kerry. McCain wins 535 electoral votes to Kerry's 3 votes. Believable? No!

13. Giuliani wouldn't win NJ, wouldn't even be close in MA
While his performance during 9/11 is admirable, he has too man skeletons in his closet and would be too liberal for the far right. He's also somewhat slimey, seems to have a new mistress by his side every month.

9. .
It is horrible crap.
For those who don't want to go through the comments on KOS, there are some other results:

Guiliani - Edwards 438 to 100 "Edwards took WI, IA , MO, VT, WA, and CA."

"It has Giulani beating Obama in 49 states, with Obama winning DC and IL only. "

Gore v McCain: "McCain by 377 to 161"

I pity those who will pay for this shit.

11. That's strange

This does show that this is garbage. McCain has baggage that will come out. I seriously don't see McCain taking the east coast with his add 100,000 troops message. Now, the choice is based on celebrity alone.

12. A better poll would be to see who'd win the nomination.
Because McCain, Giuliani, and Kerry would never win their party's nomination in 2008.
