In loss, Illinois' Green Party counting small victories
Whitney got twice what the Greens needed to become "established" in Illinois. That means its candidates now qualify for easier ballot access in 2008 and are eligible for primaries, just like Republicans and Democrats.

Illinois is a big blue state, but that's not satisfactory to the Greens who want to turn it into a liberal red state (not liberal Republicans, but one in which liberals are the majority but it's elected officials are red). We gotta bring 'em down. We gotta bring 'em down.

2. Illinois is what? 41% Identifying as Democratic?

How far would this green party candidate have gotten if it had been Eisendrath on the ticket instead of Blagoyevich?

I've never voted Green in my life, and I'm no fan of theirs, but this particular hysterical scare tactic won't convince anyone.

3. and Illinois Republicans rejoice mightily!
I'm sure a nice, fat check is coming to the Greens courtesy of the Illinois GOP right now.

The Illinois Republican Party is almost completely destitute of leaders. Their greatest icon (former governor Jim Edgar) keeps refusing to run for anything.
