----America's list of behind-the-scenes unsung heroes has gotten pretty lengthy during the first six years of the Bush neocon infestation. For a while there, it didn't appear that good, honest whistleblowing was going to catch on. But lo and behold, the democrats now hold majorities in both houses of congress, and I'd like to initiate the call that they show their appreciation in a big ol' party for all the intrepid whistleblowers....
----Ray McGovern, Larry Johnson and Vince Canistraro were among the first of the retired CIA personnel to raise their voices,... even testifying before a congressional panel. Among other things, they were defending their colleague Valerie Plame,... whose husband Joe Wilson also counts among the whistleblowers.
----Karen Kwiatkowski. Bunatine Greenhouse. Former cabinet member Paul O'Neil. Recent book publisher Tyler Drumheller,... who also made an appearance on 60 Minutes. Paul Pillar, who confirmed the Downing St. Memo.
----The list of retired generals critical of the administration had gotten really long, and I can't remember them all,... but John Batiste, Paul Eaton and Anthony Zinni all come quickly to mind. There must have been at least two dozen in all, however, and while they may not technically be "whistleblowers," I'd still invite them to the party. And maybe we could even reserve a special "private sector" seat for Sherron Watkins, the ENRON whistleblower of record....
----It would be a great party, too,.... these guys must have a lot of stories to share and old times to relive. Gee, do you think the newsmedia would like to attend?
