Why isn't Pelosi acting like Newt did?
Well because you have to remember what Newt did and said when he became speaker

Great 4:35 video here
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/11/13/newt-in-94-vowed-to-investigate-clinton-for-2-years-as-his-platform/

What did Newt say?

He promised, hell he ran on it- to investigate the Clinton's fully once in office. The video shows him sort of backing off of it.

The oddest part was were he likens the Susan Smith drowning of her two sons to how it was a sign of the influence of liberals on America. He did this the week after that horrible event. Typical Newt. Odd part is that Smith's stepfather was a GOP bigwig in S.Carolina and was even the county chair of the Christian Coalition oh and he had been having sex with Susan since she was about 14 right after he married her mother and continued until a few weeks before she flipped out and killed her own children...and blamed a black carjacker for it.

It shows Newt telling several groups that the Clinton's were "a danger to normal Americans"

See it for yourself.

1. She's not an asshole.
We will investigate alright, but she promised the voters not to impeach. There are two years left in the Dubya term. By the time the investigation is finished and the House Managers present their case, it will be time for Bush to leave anyway. Do we really want Cheney as president? What is the gain? Impeachment and removal is not justice, it is merely a way to remove a malfunctioning executive. Bush can be prosecuted when his term is over.

4. She's not a Repuglican, either
and I suspect that's the main reason she isn't acting like one.

11. Actually, I think that impeachment could be out of the question
especially after a thorough investigation, if a Dem wins in 2008 (no pardon available to *), we could just hand over "Citizen Dubya" to the world court authorities to be tried on war crimes and crimes against humanity for starting the Iraq war ...

2. Because Pelosi is a decent human being, and Newt is an asshole slimebag
That's about what I can figure out. Newt Gingrich and his merry band of GOPhers were a bunch of vindictive asshats. The truth about Dubya will come out, but we don't have to act like a bunch of rabid dogs the way the Rethugs did.

3. They had ran out of black hats
Newt clearly saw part of his role as making "liberalism" both an unmentionable as well as the continual root of all evil in this country. When you run out of black hats to ride posse on (the end of the Cold War) you tend to get paranoid and attack within-well not really they just need a bad guy to expend energy pointing out and acting like they are fighting so as not to discuss real issues.

5. Nancy Pelosi has class.
The reason Nancy Pelosi doesn't act like Newt Gingrich is because she is a woman of class and sophistication. I saw her make comments after the elections and I was amazed at how she carried herself and how well she spoke. I haven't seen a woman lead like that since Margaret Thatcher. People here may not agree with Mrs. Thatcher's politics but she always presented herself as a lady but yet as someone who should be respected.

I heard her speak at Oklahoma State one time and she said something that has always stuck with me. She said, "If you have to tell someone that you are a lady, then you are not one." She was classy, and Nancy Pelosi is just like her (as far as how she presents herself).

10. She's no less a divisive politician than Newt IMO
But she's acting a lot smarter.

If the Dems tried to impeach a President with less than a year left in office (and it would take that long--a least--to reach such a stage) they'd be even dumber politicians than the current Reps......which is saying something.

12. Nancy Pelosi is not Newt Gringrich
Thank heavens for that.

I don't think Nancy Pelosi is going to blame the pathological act of a sick mother on somebody else's political ideology any more than I think that, at the age of 67, she's going to have an illicit affair with her secretary.

Is Bush a danger to "normal" Americans? Yes. He sends their sons and daughters off to war based on deliberate lies. Should he and his regime be investigated for their misdeeds? You betcha. Should Bush and Cheney be impeached and removed if those investigations uncover the kind of act that can be characterized as high crimes and misdemeanors? Absolutely.

Was getting a blow job from a White House intern an imeeachable offense? Don't make me laugh like that. Was it a pivotal moment in human history? Stop it. Is start an imperialist war aggression based on a misrepresentation of threat posed by the target nation an impeachable offense? If not, what is? Is gutting the Bill of Rights a pivotal moment in history? I sure think so.

15. Gingrich is the most despicable SOB in politics today.

And frankly, I hope enters the prez primaries and becomes a real good spoiler for all the other gopper hopefuls. He would get a lot of votes from the low IQ voters who have a chip on their shoulder for one reason or another. That would be good enough to take votes away from a lot of the other rethugs who might aspire to the office of president.
