Newsweek hunch: Dem convention in Denver
Edited on Tue Nov-14-06 09:50 PM by msn
Howard Fineman has just written in Newsweek that the 2008 Democratic Convention will be in Denver:

The westward trend is clear. For the first time, leaders of the House and Senate are from the Far West. Democrats put Nevada in a crucial early spot in the presidential-selection process, and will hold their convention in Denver.

There's no confirmation, and it's strange that it's phrased as an already known fact, as opposed to "the Democrats have just decided to hold their convention in Denver". But US News also has a similar report, so we'll see if it's confirmed.

Update: Fineman has now said it's "just a hunch", so still nothing official yet.

2. Ahh,
I wanted it in New Orleans! Lived there for 14 years, still have in-laws down there, great excuse to go...Denver (bbrrrrr), perhaps they can get the Log Cabin Republicans to see the light.

11. New Orleans isn't in the running
They dropped out a while ago.

It's between Denver and NYC and it's a no-brainer to me. Denver here we come.

7. Science Fiction Worldcon in Denver in '08
If the Democratic convention is also here in the same year, that would be pretty cool.

The only time a national nominating convention was held in Denver was the Democratic one in 1908, so this one would be exactly 100 years later.

10. Yay!
Hopefully I'll be able to make it. But I'll likely be out of state at the time. It might be worth it to try and head back home just for the convention, but that may not be possible. Too bad all this change is happening at the time I may be forced to (sadly) permanently relocate.
