Musing about Barak Obama .....
Born in 1961, he's very young for a national stage politician. Not the youngest, to be sure, but young none the less.

He does, indeed, have some of the qualities I recall being dazzled by with JFK. He's incredibly charismatic, has a beautful wife, and great looking kids. He's upbeat and inclusive. He's living the American Dream.

His political successes have been unbroken and rapid. He doesn't fit 'the mold' and he appeals across racial, gender, and class lines. He's no flaming liberal, but neither is he conservative. He has far more 'appeal' than not with respect to almost any issue.

Put him in most any room and he's either the smartest or the next to the smartest.

His personal story is compelling and he is, truly, a melting pot man who has some of each of us within him. He is the embodiment of the color of America today.

Were I planning a run for president, he's the guy I'd want as my vice president. And as a party, he's who we should want, too. He's a guaranteed ticket to 16 years of Democratic presidents.

I can think of no one else in our party, at this time, who is more perfect for that role.

1. I agree.
I think he needs more experience before running for president, but he's perfect for VP and could then gain the experience he'd need to run for president in '16.

2. He Destroyed Keyes
You want to see someone smash the Religious Right.

Keyes was rambling about God, this and God that.

Barak just looked at him and said, man, I ain't running for minister of Illinois.

Fight Over.

And we saw him before he left and told him we wanted to vote against Bush being certified.

He said, you want the first thing I do in Washington is contest an election.

Well he did.

He also listened to us on Alito.

He would be a great choice but I still say, wait for the primary. I am sick of talking about 08 already.

We have genocide in Iraq to fix.

3. Obama is the one
who can stop Hillary in her tracks. I do not dislike her but am totally convinced she can not win. Obama would have a chance. I think he should go for it.

6. I respectfully disagree .....
.... I don't think Obama can win a national race at the top of the ticket right now.

Look at the midterms. No black man won the big races. Not Harold Ford - because of racism. Not Michael Steele, even in African-American heavy Maryland; even Kweisi Mfume couldn't win the primary against Ben Cardin for the same seat. True enough, Devall Patrick won, but it was Massachussets, after all.

Another eight years and we'll have a whole new electorate. Young people will be in the majority and they're going to be far more racially tolerant than the electorate today.

4. Obama's the man and this is his time!
He's definitely my choice, among all those who are on the radar as of yet. Watching Obama fever grow will be a real treasure!
