Chris Shays ........
.... two election cycles now, and he juuuuuust barely scraped out wins. He's moderated on his war stance. He's always been more 'moderate' than most of his right wing bretheren.

Would anyone seriously bitch if he pulled a Chaffee and switched parties? I don't think he has the balls or the strong principles to actually go independent.

1. He works for Gulf War vets
who got sick over there. He has done a really good job flushing out the obstacles to their medical care. I hope he can still hold those hearings if he is a repub.

3. He should, for the good of his political career. His party
abandoned him years ago. He should at least caucus with someone that entertains his ideas and perspectives, not ridicules them as being out of touch with the supposed "conservative" nation.

4. I think he truly hates the Bush Admins.
Whether he'll admit it in public or not. During the Katrina hearings, he was absolutely brutal to Brown & Chertoff, & talked about how Bush values loyalty more than competence. So I rank him slightly above the run-of-the-mill Republicans in Congress.

5. He's an asshole.
Comments he made about Ted Kennedy, defending Hastert's handling of Foley

"I know the speaker didn't go over a bridge and leave a young person in the water, and then have a press conference the next day. Dennis Hastert didn't kill anybody."

And he thinks Abu Ghraib was a sex ring

"Now I've seen what happened in Abu Ghraib, and Abu Ghraib was not torture. It was outrageous, outrageous involvement of National Guard troops from who were involved in a sex ring and they took pictures of soldiers who were naked." Farrell responded to the paper: "For Chris to say it was a sex ring is to minimize what happened. Chris knows it was certainly more than a sex ring."

8. But do we really want him though?
He's kinda creepy if you ask me.. a flip-floppin' clown!

We have a good cushion in the House right now.. If we were teetering at 50/50, I could see allowing him to step foot into our party..

But =ACK= he's a waffle wiffin' wacko.

10. Larissa! Hey!
Not **all** clowns are flip floppers.

Some of us prefer the big, shoe-like rubber feet instead of flip flops ....... and red rubber noses, of course.
