1. Hoyer is more Liberal
The only issue that Murtha stands out on is Iraq, but he is anti-gay, anti-choice....basically a DLCer

5. Beginning to feel like a choice of hanging or beheading...
I respect Murtha, know fairly little about Hoyer, but am concerned about the DLC tendencies of one, the very conservative viewpoints (normally) for the other, and the CREW report on Murtha... However, when I heard Melanie Sloane give her report on Murtha, she as much as admitted that they haven't taken a close look at Hoyer and that the bulk of the issues stem with legal, yet questionable use of power and influence.... Like Sloane, I'd love for the DEMS to be squeaky clean, but I'm also realistic. If they fell out of line previously (though broke no laws) then let's set the policy from this day forward and hold them to that new standard.

Bottom line, I hope Pelosi knows what she is doing and had factored in the RW smear potential if Murtha gets the nod...

I have a bad feeling, that the Murtha saga will not end well, though.
We need an ongoing mess with him in that slot like we need a hole in the head.

"Sloan cautions that while Murtha isn't facing questions from the FBI at present, that could change. "The investigators may get to Murtha," said Sloan. "They're definitely looking at subcommittee. The Cunningham investigation is not over."

Sloan worked at various points in her legal career for John Conyers, Biden, and Schumer. There's no "Conservative RW" agenda here, contrary to some silly cries I've seen in some other threads.

6. I think Murtha--voted.
I have no problem with either. But if Pelosi likes Murtha, I'll go with that.
