Hey, DCCC is suing DIEBOLD in Fla
via http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/11/15/115716/58">Kos this important battle looming over Diebolds loss of 18,000+ votes for a Florida (where else?)Dem candiate :

Down in Florida, an epic battle is brewing over the electronic Diebold voting machines that ate 18,000 votes for Democrat Christine Jennings in FL-13 and cost her the election.

Not only is an expensive recount in the cards, but campaign and DCCC lawyers are flocking down, demanding the state freeze the machines for inspection.

These are the opening salvos in what will be the battle to end Diebold.

But only 36 people have given via our http://actblue.com/page/bluemajority">Blue Majority Act Blue page for the legal battles ahead.

To put it bluntly, to anyone who has ever complained about Diebold, this is your chance to put your money where your mouth is. No more talk needed. No more advocacy needed. This is a real-world, legal frontal assault on those electronic voting machines.

If we win this battle, you'll be able to kiss Diebold goodby.

Update: No one will confirm, but word is that the DCCC and the Jennings campaign are considering suing for a brand new election.

So, all you BBV activists, all you others who think that not all machines suck, but THESE are just ridiculous pieces of shit, conspiracy or no, let's send some bucks and join he battle.

5. Sue for a brand-new election. It looks like the only way to determine
it. I hate the thought of that because it may give the GOP an advantage. But if it cannot be determined who won, then we cannot let the GOP candidate be the "presumptive winner".

Never again!

6. Sarasota uses ES&S iVotronic machines, not Diebold. All DRE's have security problems, of course.

7. I admit I'm not up to speed on Fla
but were ES&S machines used in the race in question as well?

Either way , whatever pieces of shit they were using, it consistently error rates at over 10%. I don't think that would be acceptable in an ATM, why is it in a VTM?

11. Indeed--just because you walk away alive from a trainwreck--
--does NOT mean that you cancel the post-accident safety investigation.

12. PFAW is very involved also. ..big time...local news.
Great coverage. Sounds like a lawsuit is coming. That lady in charge of Sarasota voting is looking pretty overwhelmed. Like she does not have a clue what to do.

The PFAW guys and the others who spoke look in total control with their signs on their shirts.

I was proud. Some of our local group are there helping as well.

13. My state Democratic Party (Alaska) sued Diebold last year...
And we had an IMMEDIATE action from them! They told the State of Alaska to turn over everything --- all proprietary data --- EVERYTHING --- immediately to the Alaska DNC.

Funny enough... Diebold was very cooperative and didn't want any trouble... Where we later ran into trouble was when the Republican Lt. Governor (in charge of elections) then refused to turn the data over.

So the Alaska Democratic Party sued him too.

Two days before he would have had to show up at the Anchorage Court House for a jury to be chosen, he caved in and said he'd give the Democrats here everything they wanted.

About 6 weeks or so later, he finally turned over the data.

But by then... it had been incredibly tampered with!! A normal election according to Diebold will have approximately 15 to 10 manual changes performed on the machines after an election.

Ours was shown to have something like 296 changes!

SOoooOOooOOooo... the Democratic Party is once again suing the soon-to-be-ousted Lt. Governor.

That's the story from the frozen north....
