Immigration has to be on the table quick!
The new TIME magazine has a lil diddy in it's NUMBERS section

$167 billion amount that migrant workers worldwide sent to their home countries in 2005, up from $85 billion in 2000

85% portion of those remittances used by recipients in developing nations to pay daily bills, preventing savings and investment that could pump up their countries' economy

nearly doubled in five years! I can ascertain that their take home pay did not increase, the number of workers doubled.

This has to be stopped.

4. I guess I should be clearer
I am not against immigrants, heck, mine all came over on the boat from Italy to work the coal mines.

The thing is the unemployment numbers are reported so dang low, and they are not true. There is vast unemployment in this country and especially in the mining, manufacturing and steel industries.
We have farmed out many jobs to foreign countries and our labor force is bing taken over by so many illegals.
It is obvious the money they make is not spent in this country.
A teen trying to make a buck in this country cannot even get a job at the local fast food joint.
I am not making a clear point this afternoon, maybe I can try again later.

5. Illegal immigration is really not the problem
Even with all the jobs going overseas, Americans are still doing the work it took three people to do twenty years ago.

Illegal Immigrants have become the scapegoat just like welfare mothers.

2. The large majority support reform and the Dems can't avoid that.

I suggest making our immigration laws the same as theirs.

8. The large majority
70% support a path to citizenship.

I don't know how that shakes with you idea of whqat should be done.

11. Personally, I don't have any problem with it...
But there is a lot of cognitive dissonance on the subject:

My point was, citizens want reform and they want a crackdown. Using Mexico's own laws might avoid the racist undertones.

3. What's your plan? Should we start with the Irish?
Which do you prefer: cattle cars or howling crowds with torches & pitchforks?

6. $167 billion? My goodness.
Imagine what it would be if we paid them honestly.

9. Imagine if we allowed them to join unions?
Of if we supported unions staking a claim in Mexico?

I suppose we shouldn't go there as scapegoating makes it seem like we are solving problems.
