Murtha's 'Crap' statement may well NOT be what it seems .....
Flavia Colgan .....

.... just reported on MSNBC that she spoke to Murtha's office and also to several Members who were at the event in whicht he comments were uttered.

In context, the statement was diamterically different from the way Nora Media Whore-a O'Donnell was spinning it.

He said, more completely, that the rule was crap just because we need it. In other words, what he was calling 'crap' was not the rule but the state of our government and that we actually **need** the rule. he went on to say he was 100% for it.

Talk about spinning ........ sheesh!

8. Quote from whom?
Quote as reported by Nora? I think I'll wait to see the actual videotape or, barring that, a release from Murtha's office on what he actually said. We can't be letting the MSM filter/distort the words of the Democrats at this point - they've got their own agenda and it's not the same as ours.

17. I located this information regarding the attempted bribe. While it shows
he didn't accept the bribe, it certainly doesn't paint him in a colorful light.

I started looking through this because I had not heard of it before. I think we need to be very careful about who we put in leadership positions after all of the recent corruption. We should be doing our part to eliminate corruption and not turn a blind eye to it.

7. It is "crap," if Dems do not break the real ties between lobbyists and legislation!
(If Dems don't prohibit lobbyists from holding fundraisers for members of Congress, corruption will continue unabated.)

D.C. Dispatch January 24, 2006

Political Pulse by William Schneider (CNN's political analyst)

K Street's Capitol Connection

Republicans are hoping that the corruption issue won't hurt them in November.

Columnist Michael Kinsley once wrote,"The scandal in Washington isn't what's illegal. It's what's legal."

Consider, for example, what lobbyists do. They make campaign contributions. They chair re-election committees. They give money to foundations and political action committees controlled by members of Congress. They hold fundraisers that yield a lot more money than individual lobbyists are allowed to contribute. They sponsor retreats for lawmakers. They throw lavish parties to honor politicians.

I just caught the catch phrase on MSNBC and am here to find out what Murtha really said. I learned a long time ago that I won't get the whole explanation from MSNBC.
