Will Hillary overcome the political damage the DLC is doing to her? |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 04:26 PM by burythehatchet
With every word that a James Carville or Al Frum spews, they of course lose credibility but they also transfer some of the negative feelings towards Hillary. So whether she knows it or not or likes it or not she is suffering politically from this spat.
The longer it goes on the more the base is ging to turn against her. I wonder if that is in her calculations.

There are a lot of similarities between the Bushies and the Clintonistas -- both are rabidly loyal to individuals, even at the expense of the overall party.
NO MORE F***ING DYNASTIES!!! The Clintons do not own the Democratic Party any more than the Shrubs do the Repuglicans!

2. The only way that happens is smear artists making Hillary resposible for others |

Carville deserves to be taken to task.
But those trying to attach his bs to Hillary are lying at best.

that Carville is doing his stuff at the behest of Hillary, and so are an awful lot of insiders.

I see this as too blunt for Hillary's style.
I could be wrong of course.

5. The question is can she overcome the damage she's done to herself. |
|
I really wanted to love Hillary. I adore her husband and if he could run again, I'd vote for him again. No, he's not perfect, but he's the best we've had in a while.
I was a strong Hillary supporter when she wanted to be more than an arm decoration in the White House. I supported her run for Senate. I was ready to cheer her on into the Oval Office.
But she didn't just scoot to the center. She did it in ways that repelled me. It's not just the war. The thing that always comes to mind first is the venal, pandering flag burning nonsense. She didn't just go along to get along, which would have been bad enough. She sponsored it. Compromise can be a necessary if unpleasant reality. This wasn't compromise. It wasn't necessary. And those are the things that drive me nuts. There's a case to be made for never selling out and a case to be made for compromise when it serves the greater good. But when people sell out unnecessarily for no perceivable good, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
If Hillary gets the nomination, she'll get my vote in the general election. But she's not going to be my primary candidate.

This manufactured brouhaha won't change it. It is the beginning of a power struggle within the party that is most evident in the spectacle acted out here are at DU. I assure you the real world either doesn't know about this or doesn't give a crap, and what seems so life-altering here will have no effect on her candidacy whatsoever, although I'll bet many here at DU have their fingers crossed.

8. well, she just won re- election by 36 percentage points. |
|
hard to see any damage there.
And -
I doubt very much that losing "credibility" on the left blogosphere is going to hurt her at all. It will more likely help.

Enough of this triangulating, calculating, ambitious, and amoral Presidential aspirant. We have far better names to pick from, names of people that spoke up against the war and Bush's crimes when it mattered: Al Gore, Wes Clark, John Kerry, Barak Obama.
We need Hillary like we need a hole in the head,
