Thank You to the netroots from Chuck Schumer
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 05:50 PM by sarahlee
On behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, I want to personally thank the DailyKos community -- and the entire netroots -- for your support, energy, and hard work during this election. Together, we have achieved a historic victory. The tireless efforts of the blogosphere helped propel us over the top in states like Virginia and Montana - the very seats that captured the Senate majority.

There is no question that the outcome of this election proves what we can accomplish when we work together. Your early advocacy for candidates like Jon Tester and Jim Webb raised their national profile and their financial base, paving the way to coordinated efforts that led to victory. This was a devastating one-two punch that can be repeated across the country in 2008.

Our efforts over the past two years have proven there is a new dynamic for recruiting candidates and winning elections in our party. And that the best way for Democrats to win, and to pursue the values we hold dear, is for all of us to work together. The power and vibrancy of the netroots is as exciting and effective as it is new. And I admit that in the past, there has not been enough of a real dialogue between the netroots community and our campaign leadership, including me. But please know that today marks a personal, earnest effort to converse, engage, and listen that will continue over the next two years and into the future.

This year we won because we are smart, committed to a common cause, determined, and indefatigable. The diversity of our new Democratic majority shows that we have a big tent. From Ben Cardin to Amy Klobuchar to Bob Casey to Bernie Sanders, to Jon Tester and James Webb, our candidates were energetic campaigners, and will now be exceptional members of the Senate.

Your efforts, combined with the DNC's 50-state strategy, is creating a political environment that is one of the best Democrats have seen in decades. Our bench of candidates is growing, our state parties are becoming stronger, and our prospects for growing our majority look brighter everyday.

I want to thank all of you again. Victory would not have been possible without you.

1. Those are kind words, but something doesn't feel right
There's just something about his handling of the whole Lieberman/Lamont showdown in CT that's got me smelling a big rat.

Schumer appears to ask Kerry to leave

WASHINGTON, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer appeared to kick Sen. John Kerry out of a Democratic leadership walk in Washington, a reporter who witnessed the event said.

An ABC News reporter said the incident occurred Tuesday outside of the Old Senate Chamber as members of the new Democratic leadership, of which Kerry is not a part, left the chamber en route to the Ohio Clock Corridor to discuss leadership elections, the incoming majority's agenda and Iraq.

The ABC reporter said Kerry left the room behind Democratic Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.; Whip Dick Durbin, D-Ill.; Caucus Secretary Patty Murray, D-Wash.; and Caucus Vice-Chair Schumer, D-N.Y. However, when Schumer noticed Kerry, D-N.Y., walking behind him, he turned and said something to the Massachusetts senator that caused him to stop.

Kerry waited for the Democratic leaders to walk ahead and then ducked between two statues. The ABC reporter speculated that Schumer may have told Kerry to stay clear of the leadership shot.

5. What a lying POS
This is what he had to say about the 50 state strategy earlier this week:

"“Fifty-state is a good thing to do, but it didn’t help us in this election,” said Mr. Schumer. “My only disagreement with Howard is that he should help us fund taking back the majority, because it would make a difference with things like the Supreme Court. And he came through—he ended up giving us $7.5 million. We tried the honey approach rather than the vinegar approach, and it worked.”

But now it's time to kiss the grassroots' ass so ol' Chuck has no problem twisting his words to pander to a chosen audience. I'll get over his unforgivable treatment of Kerry over the past two weeks - a man who busted his ass for 2006 far more than Schumer did.

Fuck you, Chuck Schumer.
