Report from Albuquerque Journal:
Bernalillo County Clerk Mary Herrera is now saying the county canvass, with its more than 3,700 "in lieu of" and provisional ballots to be counted, probably won't be completed until Friday.
Although Democratic challenger Patricia Madrid leads incumbent Republican Rep. Heather Wilson in populous Bernalillo County by about 700 votes, Madrid trails Wilson by 1,048 votes overall in the five counties that make up the 1st Congressional District, according to the latest roundup from The Associated Press.
But still to be counted are 4,580 ballots in Bernalillo County that were kicked out of machines and must be hand-tallied, County Clerk Mary Herrera told reporters this morning.
In addition, there are three precincts to be counted in Sandoval County and one in Santa Fe County.

Jennings (D) 118,729 50%
From the Dem candidate:
The Supervisor of Elections reported today that there were 18,382 undervotes in this Congressional race – that means more than 1 out of every 7 ballots cast did not record a vote for the 13th District Congressional race. This is a staggering number. Sarasota voters have been victimized by not having their vote count.
By law, there will be a mandatory recount. Our goal is to assure every voter that we will have a fair and accurate election process. We will not rest until every vote is counted.

Wulsin (D) 112,952 49%
Cincinnati, OH – “This election is by no means over,” said Victoria Wulsin today about her race for Congress against Jean Schmidt. “Thousands of absentee and provisional ballots have yet to be counted. Until all the votes are counted, this race continues.”
Wulsin sent a letter to all 7 boards of election today requesting information on the number of provisional ballots cast and the number of absentee ballots still left to be counted.
“The central principle of our democracy is that the people of this country choose our own government,” the letter said. “The integrity of that democracy therefore requires that each vote be counted.”
Those absentee votes include military families and civilians living abroad. Because that information is not yet available district-wide, it is premature to declare either candidate victorious.

Kilroy (D) 98,100 49%
From Real Clear Politics:
Incumbent Republican Deborah Pryce leads Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy by 3,536 votes. But there are more than 10,000 provisional ballots left to be counted, and the Columbus Dispatch reports the Kilroy campaign is still hard at work:
"Kilroy's campaign called about 70,000 voters last weekend and aired television and radio ads asking people who cast provisional ballots to contact the campaign and county boards of elections to make sure their votes in the 15 th Congressional District are counted."
According to the article, "95 percent of people who voted provisionally in Franklin County were able to provide a Social Security card or driver's license number that can be used to establish residency." If you assume 95% of provisional ballots end up being verified and counted, a down and dirty sketch of the math shows that Kilroy would have to win 70% of them to flip the seat. Furthermore, if the addition of the provisional ballots brings Kilroy within roughly 1,050 votes of Pryce (either ahead or behind) - it will trigger a mandatory recount in all three counties.

Trauner (D) 92,227 48%
Casper - US House Candidate Gary Trauner sent a letter to the State Canvassing Board in advance of their meeting today to certify the results of the state's elections. While he did not formally request a recount, he did point to the many calls and emails his office received from across the state. Voters statewide contacted Trauner's campaign to report possible errors in counting votes, disallowing votes and other concerns. While most of the reports lacked merit after researching them, two items that came to Trauner's attention in the last 72 hours are of concern.
"The number of undervotes in the US House race and the results in Sheridan County bear further inspection," Trauner said. His letter to the board addressed these two concerns and an attached spreadsheet illustrated the statistical anomaly in Sheridan County for 2006 vs 2004 compared with the rest of the counties.
"It is important that every voter know that his or her vote was counted accurately. The difference between Sheridan County's votes against my opponent this time versus 2004 is lower than any other county - even counties that are far more conservative than Sheridan County," Trauner added. People in Sheridan County are surprised and confused by this - and as a businessman who deals with statistics, Trauner is, too.
The State Canvassing Board certified the results of the US House race under a separate motion this morning. By statute, the Trauner campaign has 48 hours after the certification to respond and will do so.
