Truth to power....read this powerful Vets rant on the VFW 2006 endorsments
The bottom line is that it be so important to do what Doc Barnes proposes BOYCOTT the American Legion and VFW not only to remind the Legion and VFW of the past insult done to Vietnam Veterans, but to also remind Vietnam Veterans who are now members of those organizations that their organizations turned their backs on Vietnam Veterans IS A HISTORIC FACT. Given what happened to Tammy Duckworth, and others who WE KNOW would better serve the interest of America's Veterans were not supported by the VFA-PAC for the sole reason that they were Democrats. Put another way these gallant warriors were labeled LIBERALS be they so or not. Again, the Major says BULLSHIT with that.

The VFW can endorse whomever they choose. The American Legion can have whatever agenda it desires outside of a focus on Veterans Issues and Mandatory Funding of the VA, which should be a reality by now had they put as much money, time and effort into lobbying for it as for THEIR Flag Amendment. Fine, but America's Veterans have the RIGHT to choose which Veterans Service Organizations BEST serve THEIR INTERESTS - NOT ONE THAT HIDES BEHIND HALF ASS DECISIONS OF ITS POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE!

I offer that the 101st Congress needs to pass legislation that makes VA funding FULL & MANDDATORY. Period, support the troops damnit.

cause that move from the VFW was truly sickening! Shows that love of a party is greater than love of their country and those who served! A damn shame!

6. Support the troops for REAL for a change.
Just shows the power of propaganda.

BushInc has been able to snow veterans into supporting them and their chickenhawk candidates with lies and smears against the Democrats who are the ones pushing hardest for benefits for the veterans and all military personnel and their families.

7. Great post FogerRox, I never could could understand the
reasoning behind the VFW and the AL always backing the party that continued to screw them over.
However, they are not much different than farmers who consistently support Republicans when it's the Dems who carry the water for them during the Farm Bill debates.
It just baffles the ever loving bejebus outta me.
