Virginia freepers forced to flee south.....
don't let the door hit ya on the way out.....

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/15/AR2006111501395.html

Last Tuesday, Republican George Allen won by wide margins in 92 of the state's 134 localities but lost the race because Democrat James Webb swept the densely populated Washington suburbs. At the same time, Northern Virginians voted against the amendment to define marriage as only between a man and a woman, but the measure passed largely because people south of the Rappahannock voted overwhelmingly for it.

At Allen's concession speech, two supporters turned to each other in disgust. "That's it," said one. "I'm moving to South Carolina."

2. That would be wonderful
If our state capitol wasn't filled with defiant Confederates, we might get our roads fixed in N. VA.

Gillespie Likely New Va. GOP Chief

By BOB LEWIS
Associated Press Writer

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie is a strong favorite to become chairman of Virginia's struggling GOP early next month, party officials said Wednesday.

Gillespie, who chaired the national party through President Bush's 2004 re-election, is a national GOP strategist and was a campaign adviser to Sen. George Allen's failed re-election bid, the party's final defeat in an election that saw Democrats retake the Senate after 12 years.

A message seeking comment from Gillespie was not immediately returned.

November 2000 and all of the media had 24/7 "concern" for us.

7. The So.Carolina flag window/bumper sticker is the new "rebel flag"
I read this a couple of years ago. Seems that the inside story/joke is that the blue Palmetto and crescent moon (ironic) flag is used by some instead of the stars 'n' bars to show their love for the Confederacy without actually showing it. See South Carolina was the first to seceed and so their flag represents the south rising up.

This, of course, doesn't mean that everyone with such a sticker is like that.

12. Good idea....
the freepers can take up a collection and have Halliburton build a huge razor topped concrete fence around the place and call it the Republic of Fundieland. Send every last one of them there. We at DU can all chip in and airlift our Democratic bretheren out beforehand. :sarcasm:

13. At least we
are winning back the south by sheer numbers. Over the next couple of decades people living in & around DC will continue to spread out to VA, this will ensure future victories in this once front line of the confederates. While the neo-cons move to SC.

15. Loudoun and Prince William counties...
once conservative bastions put Webb over the top. The political landscape in the state is changing very rapidly. The dinosaurs in the state house won't be able to keep up, very fortunately for us.
