Out of the mouths of Republicans (e.g. McConnell) come gems:
Sen. Mitch McConnell, the new Republican minority leader
in the Senate had this to say about the new Democratic-led
Congress, in re matters judiciary:

Mitch McConnell: "We expect from them the same level of
cooperation we extended to President Clinton."

OK--holding up judgeship nominations in the Senate
Judiciary committee for years and impeachment
proceedings in the House.

I'm rather confident that if Sen. McConnell takes a moment
to reflect on his statement, he will rescind it faster than he
can say "bring it on," and declare his statement to be
"inoperative."

8. Well, I don't THINK that's what he had in mind, but
If taken at face value, that's what he said, all right.

The stupid jerk was at the heart of the obstruction of Clinton's
presidency, and is so addled of mind that he obviously doesn't
remember the crap he himself was involved in. I can only wonder if
some of the less memory-challenged of his Republican colleagues will
remind him of just what he was publicly calling for.

We take requests! But be careful what you wish for. I'd LOVE to see our people treat you schmucks the way you treated Clinton. I would simply LOVE it. Frankly, I think our people are being WAY too nice already.

4. From Judicial Hearings June 2005 (Carl Levin)
"During the entire Clinton presidency, it is my understanding that not a single judicial nominee got a Judiciary Committee hearing if there was opposition by one home-state Senator, let alone two. But in our case, both home-state Senators opposed proceeding with President Bush’s Michigan judicial nominees absent a bipartisan approach, but the Committee held hearings anyway. So, the unreturned blue slips of one Republican senator was enough to block Judiciary Committee consideration of two nominees by a Democratic President. But despite negative blue slips of both home state Democratic Senators, hearings were held for 6th Circuit nominations of President Bush. That is inconsistent and unfair."

June 5 2005 Carl Levin

5. I'll bet Sen. McConnell didn't know that either!
This is what is known (or will be known ) as "shooting from the lip."

6. The Republicans "extended" the hand of co-operation - Clinton
reached to accept it ... and the Repukes chopped off his arm ...

Fool me once ...

7. The same level of co-operation?
You mean that he's recommending that the Dems should impeach Bush? And in the meantime, should go on strike and shut down the entire government next time that Bush does something they don't like? (I can just imagine Gingrich's self-righteous outrage if a trade union had acted like his Republicans did!) And that the new Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee should announce to the entire world that Bush should feel in danger of violence if he visits his state?

10. McConnell on Meet The Press: "We took Iraq"
He said this to Andrea Mitchell standing in for Russert a few months ago. He had a nasty gleam in his eye when he said it.

He should be asked what he meant by that.

16. Here is another example of McConnell's method of "cooperation"
"A short while ago the Senate's number two Republican, Mitch McConnell, rejected Democrats' suggestions they move an investigation of pre-war intelligence in Iraq forward."

Never EVER underestimate these guys' innovative skills in doing
damage to our country. They have had a lot of practice, and it's
the only game they know. Expect them to keep playing it.
