Edited on Thu Nov-16-06 01:13 PM by 59millionmorons
As long it it is the majority leader from the Democratic party is all it matters to me. Hell a month from now I won't even remember who the majority leader is anyway. This is all much ado about nothing.

2. nope you are not
I like them both, for different reasons. as I said in other threads - my interest and concern is for the country not the party.

putting party before people is why the repubs are now the minority

6. Nope.... Six Months From Now You Won't Be Able To Find TWO
people on the street who even knows who Hoyer is! I mean if they don't know who is on the Supreme Court, why is this so huge???

It's only us! I'd rather work on keeping Carville out of my face!!!

Certainly little effect with the voters.

I don't care about James Carville either.

We got to learn how to choose our battles if we want to stay in power.

10. Nah, I don't give an eff either
I just figured that the real reason Pelosi picked Murtha is that she gets along better with him. Her relations with Hoyer are "strained" but the majority of reps voted for him. So I believe in trusting in the wisdom of the majority vote. They did unanimously support Pelosi thank goodness, and voted her in as speaker. That's what counts imo. The real shame is that we have such lousy choices, nobody exciting, and nobody really progressive. But Pelosi's win is the exciting thing, and will eventually bear fruit.

11. Than I'm a bad Dem too. What we all fail to realize is we are the ultimate bosses
anyway.

We can't sit back and expect them to do all the work especially to undo the mess the RRR has done.

The Dems control the committees and that's what matters most.

15. The Rude Pundit appears to agree with you

Hoyermania Beats Murthapalooza:
You know, the Rude Pundit's aware of the political and legislative implications of who is Majority Leader, for things like the running of the House, the passage of bills, and more. But, speaking as an American who just went through the trauma of the bandage yank of this past election, who the fuck cares that Steny Hoyer won over Nancy Pelosi's choice of Jack Murtha?

Beyond the masturbatory glee with which Right Blogsylvania scribbled about it and the breathless attention on cable news, who fuckin' thanked God for a way to spin against the Democrats again, could we just all shut the fuck up and get to work?

Abscam? What the fuck?

17. As of right now, I really don't care...
I backed Jack Murtha for a long time, but it appears that some skeletons in his own closet finally came forth to collect their debt.

But really, it's time for us to move forward and start kicking some neo-fascist ass.

18. Don't care too much
But I do hope that he and the whip can get the party unified in its votes.

I don't want almost half the Dems defecting on certain votes.

21. Not at all -
The majority leader represents the caucus, not the voters. All of the carrying on about who WE want is really silly. If the caucus wants one or the other to represent them, more power to them.

I never heard of Hoyer until a few weeks ago. The important thing is the word "Democrat" and that he has a lot of backing, as he got today

29. They would both have done a decent job, but I'm happy with the results.

Because quite frankly even the image of unethical behavior when that is essentially what won us this election would have been monstrously damaging. This was the best bet. It may not be fair, it may not even be right but this is the core of politics. Which is, at it's worst at times and best at times, comrpomise. And for goodness sakes I sincerely do not see one person doing a monumentally different/better job then the other. It's a non-issue to me.

30. Nope.
But the 24-hour news networks need SOMETHING to fill the time. And if they can use that something to portray the Dems as divided and ineffectual even if it is something that matters not at all, all the better right?
