1. Randi Rhodes says she stood by Murtha purely out of loyalty |
|
and that Hoyer will be a built-in check and balance. So maybe Pelosi went into this knowing she was going to lose--and knowing how much stronger she'd look when she reunited the party leadership anyway.

2. Well, we can delude ourselves or we can admit |
|
that she botched this one--she picked a needless fight and lost.
She's a smart, tough woman--but she's not perfect.

4. I suspect so. I'd rather have her fuck up |

5. No big deal actually...early media "loss" in a procedural leadership race |
|
takes some of the performance pressure off Madame Speaker. Talking heads need something to talk about and this will be a 2 day wonder before we move on to the important business on hand.
Still it is amusing that the chattering class is in a little swoon because the Congressional Dems had an actual contested, democratic election. Someone won and someone lost. Get over it.
The alternative?:I guess the preferred governing model of these crypto-fascist commentators is unquestioned loyalty to a Supreme Leader. Yucchh.

6. Sounds like she's a leader and not |

a dictator - like "The Hammer" for instance. Good. We don't need a bunch of sycophants who'll do anything to stay in lockstep. Been there, done that.
