Democrats bitterly divided due to Majority Leader Vote in the House
Edited on Thu Nov-16-06 10:50 PM by rpannier
The Capitol in Flames!!!
Murtha and Hoyer shoot it out on the streets of DC!!!
According to Pelosi, "I will crush any and all opposition to my decisions!"
A spokesperson for Pelosi said, "Ms. Pelosi has ordered all 148 lawmakers who voted for Hoyer be drawn and quartered in the public square. She will line the road to the Capitol building with the skulls of her vanquished enemies."
Many supporters of Hoyer have gone into hiding, hoping to wait out the purge and sneak out of DC under the cover of dark.
Other Hoyer supporters, lead by Rahm Emanuel kidnapped California Congressman George Miller during the chaos and, reminiscent of the murder of Julius Caesar, beat and stabbed Miller to death, then tossed his body into the Potomac.
The bitterly divided 149-86 vote for Hoyer was so razor thin that there appears to be no room for compromise.
Almost as bitterly divided was the vote for Speaker of the House. Pelosi got all the votes in a race with no opposition to her.
The bitter anger by the opposition is so great she may be forced to resign from Congress and hide out in Paraguay where there is no extradition.

Meanwhile, the republikkan senate, fresh from Lott's unifying victory for the number 2 republikkan position, a vote he won by a convincing and unifying 1 vote, were seen holding hands and singing cumbayah in the Senate chamber, while they begged the Democrats to show calm and restraint for the good of America.

Fair and balanced fox news reporter sean hannity has learned that a member of congresswoman Tauscher's staff, in order to quell the riot went to the bank to withdraw some political capital and found the account totally empty.

Fair and balanced fox's bill o'reilly had this to say, "Political capital is expensive and should not be spent unwisely. SOME PEOPLE are saying that Ms Pelosi transferred that capital to a secret Swiss banc account, where she will use the capital to push her San Francisco Values on America. She'll try to legalized gay marriage, drug use in the street, homeowners will be forced to allow the homeless to move into their homes and there will be a 100% income tax on all Americans."

So do I understand today's events as presented by the Washington Post and other 'liberal' press sources correctly?

on note: I have no idea if Rahm Emanuel voted for Hoyer or Murtha, but his was the first name that came to mind.
I read Hoyer got 149 votes and Murtha got 86. I cannot verify these numbers.

Has anyone heard about the voting for Repug offices? Any close races, disagreements? No?
Everything just hunky-dory over there, right?

4. LOL. The cable news folks certainly tried. Much ado about
the usual business of Congressional operations. I appreciated Pelosi, Murtha and Hoyer presenting a professional post-election opportunity for the press to remember this wasn't a high school celebrity contest.

Eh. We'll be fine. The Democratic Congress will do a good job.

It was so positive to see a sign of unity after the vote.

8. Thank you, and Welcome to DU!
"But Iraq is the key. Democrats won the election because we spoke up, and the real test of our leadership lies ahead. Thank you for your support, and now let's get to work."

10. Funny - yesterday they didn't report: "Republicans restore a racist back to power,
four years after they ran him out of office. Does this mean the Republicans are writing off the Black vote - again? And what does this mean for Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who now must look over his shoulder at every turn since no one believes for a minute that Lott is planning to remain at #2 for long?"

11. Shockingly, both Tweety and Olbermann mentioned that on their shows today.
Olbermann I can understand, but when Tweety said it I was stunned, I tell ya. He even related it to the false fuss over the Majority Leader vote.

I guess a bird like Tweety needs to pay attention to which way the wind blows...

15. Keith Olbermann pointed out how MSM covered the Dems versus GOP's
leadership elections. Trent Lott won by one vote, and the MSM didn't say anything about the GOP being split, yet they make that claim about the Dem leadership election.

House Democrats are united, and we must unite behind them.

how they are twisting unimportant things into what Repubs want to make it out to be. I was for Murtha, but Dems are not divided. I do not believe CNN, the Corporate News Network!

19. and this is how it will be until 2008
Just like Clinton, every move, every nose wipe will be blown out of proportion to make the dems look bad. I just hope the American public has awoken sufficiently to see through the crap (not everyone is as astute as the DU members).

Or we would not have won the election. The news was shilling for BushCo for 6 years, now, and people have noticed it.

21. Lott won by how many votes?
Exactly ONE! I can't even say count 'em, because there's no "'em,"
just an "it."

Of course, we ARE talking Republicans here, and after their crushing
victory in the 2000 presidential election, a win of 25-24 must seem
like a towering mandate. Look for Lott to deficit spend his newly won
immense store of political capital. I wonder what's first on the agenda,
making Strom Thurmond's birthday a national holiday? Or maybe something
more subtle, like a memorial to Pvt. Jessica Lynch, and then leaving off
her first name from the monument so all it says is "Lynch."
