Inhoff says he'll filibuster any global warming legislation by Boxer
He was just interviewed by David Schuster on MSNBC. This neanderthal says 'the science just isn't there'.

Hey Jim ...... Hahahahahahahahaha .... kiss my globally warmed ass. :)

As a side note ..... does anyone else find that nasally voice of his akin to nails on a blackboard?

2. And I hope the Repubs try to filibuster a raise in minimum wage
By all means let us draw the line in the sand and show upon which side reason and compassion resides.

4. I think that the GOP is going to be
pretty glad that they didn't use that nuclear option they wanted to and I wonder where that 'centrist' gang of 14 will be when they do. Will Leiberman be there to tell them that it is wrong to obstruct?

Oh this is going to ba fun time on cspan come January.

5. So... are there actually enough troglodytes in the Senate to make the filibuster work?
/Rhetorical question

8. You only need someone who is willing to talk non-stop until
they get a chance to hand the issue off to another pug. They will probably read the entire Bible - their version.

13. Not true - that changed a looonnngg long time ago
There is a motion for cloture - which ends the discussion on a topic. You need 60 votes to pass cloture, which means you need 41 votes to sustain it.

(Remember the Alito filibuster - Kerry or Kennedy speaking non-stop would have been interesting.)

17. Oops! That kind of takes the bite out of the filibuster. I am old
enough to remember a filibuster that took place during the Eisenhower years. All I remember about it is being fascinated with the length of time it lasted.

9. Well then shouldn't we simply play the nuclear option?
After all, that was their threat, why not simply use it against them? Re-write the senate rules and make the fillibuster history.

11. The nuclear option the 'pukes proposed
was only for judicial appointments, but in any case, we definitely do not want to get rid of the filibuster in any situation. The Senate is organized around giving the minority party a great deal of power, and that's a good thing.

12. Let them try and stifle the people's agenda.
Will they be filibustering election reform, too? Because they are really going to be on the wrong side of all of the issues when the 2008 election season starts. When they had the majoriity they controlled the agenda and they could keep the Democratic legislation off the table. Now they'll have to go on record as opposing what the majority clearly wants - a progressive, liberal, enlightened change in our international and domestic agenda.

Bring it on!

18. DO IT! Let's "give" the repukes THEIR "nuclear option"...
It'll be smoother sailing for DEMOCRATIC legislation if the hypocritical repukes couldn't fillibuster anymore.

Of course, now that THEY'RE the minority party, it's all hunky dorey...

That's his one and only agenda. Probably wouldn't care if it worked or not, as long as he could line his pockets some more. :puke:

22. I foresee any filibuster attempt on this particular issue failing almost
immediately. Enough Repukes will distance themselves as quickly as possible from this nutball if his reasoning is that the "science isn't there". I believe the people are sick of the Repukes throwing out fact for fantasy.

23. The one issue that may get enough Republican support...
To break any filibuster.

I can think of any number of Republican Senators who would likely support Global Warming legislation...

Snowe, Collins, Specter, McCain, Coleman come to mind immedietely

Assuming we would lose Ben Nelson on that vote (which I am not sure we would), only 10 Repubs would be required.

25. An Inhofe-related tidbit and it's not encouraging.
I went to a church bazaar this morning searching for antiques and as I waited in line I struck up a conversation with an older man and his wife. We started to discuss the weather, which has been summerlike for the past few days when it should be snowing and the topic drifted to global warming. The guy says to me, "My wife is a science teacher and she's an expert on global warming." I turned to her and asked what she thought of Senator Inhofe's latest rant. "Who?" she says. End of story.

26. I think that's actually encouraging
It's an indication that the Right Wing Echo Machine has lost traction and the messages and memes from the likes of Inhofe have already been tossed on the dung heap.

28. remember how demonized the democrats were when the filibuster
was even mentioned? They backed down, and made a deal not to use it. They better not back down on this side of the grass.

29. Makes me wish we had let them "go nuclear" on the judiciary
nominations--how 'bout you? They would have done away with the filibuster option, on the hubristic (is that a word?) belief that they would always be in the majority.
