Bush: Lesson from Vietnam War is 'Don't Quit'. On MSNBC
just now. :wtf: So, what do you call it when you go AWOL from the Nat'l Guard?
And what does he really mean? We should have stayed in VN? His logic is mindboggling.

2. Look it's not too late. We can start killing Vietnamese again tomorrow
and Laotians and Cambodians, too, if President Jesus really thinks it was a mistake to quit.

5. Dana Carvey as George HW Bush:
"It's not gonna be another Vietnam.

"We learned well the simple lesson of Vietnam: Stay out of Vietnam."

4. I can't believe that he was allowed to go
there, he's become so much more the butt of nighttime show jokes. Are we all supposed to have forgotten that he was AWOL?

10. I assume that the decider decided that it was high time he actually saw
Vietnam...

6. Yes, that's exactly what he means. You realize...
that the neocons definitely do think that we should have stayed in VietNam. There has always been a contingent who thought that we lost Viet Nam because of the "dirty fucking hippies" (thanks Digby), and those people took power in 2000.

7. My favorite part of all of this...
...is that among all of the warm, hug-filled stories in the MSM about the "humbled" post-Midterm Bush, he didn't learn a thing, and he clearly wasn't listening to what the American people were trying to tell him.

"Don't Quit"...it's the NEW "Stay The Course." I can just hear Tony Snow now: "The president did not say "stay the course." He said "don't quit." It's two completely different statements, and it is ridiculous for you to even compare them."

8. .
Hahaha seriously.
Concerning Vietnam, is it true that to that time, it was France again who warned the US or advised them not to get involved there?

9. He's trying to frame the issue so Dems can't possibly win.
If he makes that stick with enough people, then the Dems can't win. If we get us out of Iraq, then he says "We lost because they wouldn't let us win." If the US stays in Iraq for any reason, long term or short term, we will fail, and Bush says "The screwed up the war."

Bush knows we will accomplish nothing in Iraq by staying. He's just playing politics.

11. I guess he means we shouldn't have stayed in Nam until we had lost a
couple of million US soldiers and until there were no Vietnamese left alive.....just like he wants to do in the ME.
