MORE Kudos to HGTV ... a **married** gay couple on "House Hunters" |
|
Two women on House Hunters. But it isn't the US. The story is from Malmo, Sweden.
But there it was, on American teevee. They uttered the word while showing these two women.
Married.
It is on right now (10.30 pm EST)

2. They are really good about that. |
|
I had never watched it but after we started building our house I began to try and make certain I had seen everything so I could choose wisely. I think it is wonderful, it seems so ordinary, just like it should.

3. Are you a regular watcher??? |
|
They have have a lot of shows where they have two women or two men. And Discovery has a show called about selling a house and they have two women and two men. They don't discriminate. But if the religious rightso nuts get on to this they will start hollering.
I saw some nutty preacher type telling the audience on one of they paid programming preaching rants that the GAY community had a program pulled off cable TV. HOW IN THE HECK COULD ANYBODY HAVE A PROGRAM PULLED. As many people who complain about a show it is still shown. He was just trying to build prejudice.

5. Yes, I do watch semi-regularly |
|
They have, as you say, shown many gay couples and make no attempt to euphemise the relationships. This one struck me because they said flat out that they had been **married** for siz years and showed a bunch of wedding photos.

4. I saw that last week. Apparently it's not a big deal in Sweden |
|
and it hasn't threatened a single straight marriage and the sky hasn't fallen there.
They show male couples all the time, female couples less often. Gay folks aren't invisible on HGTV.

6. saw that episode earlier this year. |
|
And I do give these types of shows a lot of credit for not discriminating on who they show. I've seen everything from gay and lesbian, to so-called "mixed race," and it is never commented on. It just "is", like real life.
And that couple in Sweden, didn't they move across the border or something? Anyhow, some of the elaborate fireplaces, as I recall in one space, were impressive.

7. Did they show the hordes of bandits, the homeless, the burning cars |
|
and all the other detruis connected with the collapse of society after gay marriage was allowed? Let me tell you, I can't go out for a cup of coffee here in Canada without being beaten senseless by roving bands of orphans whose parents have abandoned them for the lure of gay marriage. I just hope HGTV is depicting the situation in a fair and balanced manner. I'm surprised there are any houses left in Sweden, what with the hedonistic times they must be living in :sarcasm:

9. Well, after all, HGTV stands for Honors Gays TV. Nyuk, nyuk. |
|
There are 3 good American cable channels: Comedy Central, HGTV, and the Weather Channel. There are no good American network channels.

10. A lot of the gardening magazines I read |
|
show homes of gay couples. I have noticed this over the past maybe 8-10 years, but a lot more in the last three or four. And the articles always say 'partner.' It is not hidden. I am glad the mainstream (gardening/home decor) media is coming around.
