Great Keith Olbermann interview in GQ December issue (page 220)
No link, you'll have buy or borrow a copy, but it'a a great article and it's a worth a look.

My husband subscribes partly because GQ has an editorial slant to the Left and for December, it's very apparent! There's a great article about a single street in New Orleans after Katrina and the disaster that was the Bush reponse as well.

Not much to respond to this post for, so can I get a kick every so often so all can see this?

Thanks.

2. huh . .GQ, Vanity Fair,
It's funny what turns out to be journalism, as opposed to hackery over time, isn't it?

4. As what passes for "news" is increasingly entertainment at least
we have "entertainment" giving us quality journalism; not just excellent editorial pieces in the likes of Vogue, Vanity Fair, etc, but The Daily Show, Colbert Report, and the like.

If I were a young journalist, I'd start my career research at a fashion rag, I swear!

3. Some great quotes from it:
"If I'm fearful that I'm going to lose this if I don't get to a typewriter soon, that's when it's time to do a Special Comment."

"I've always believed that if you're on television and you're not saying something, you're not presenting something of yourself, it might as well be a trained chimpanzee out there."

"There's no nuance to being a Republican. They have a one-page playbook."

Of Bill O'Reilly: "He's my Puff the Magic Dragon. It's time to let him go."

Of the Bush Administration's approach to the media: "We volunteered for it, and we did it out of a higher sense of patriotism than George Bush will ever understand...But the media volunteered for this role, and it's very tough to get out of it once you're inside."

"People say to me 'What's wrong with George Bush?' I think he's got post-traumatic stress disorder...He's all over the place, he gets mad at meaningless things, he's irrational, he sees terror where there is nothing."

"Everybody should reread 1984. Karl Rove didn't come up with any of these ideas...Everything in that playbook has been pulled out, including the most essential one: rewriting history."

"Objectivity relates to one thing only: Is what you're saying, to the best of your knowledge, true or false?"

"Bush will be judged as the worst multiple-term president, easily...He's going to go down as Nixon, without the international brilliance or foresight."

"If we reinstate the draft, there will be riots in the streets within seventy-two hours."

Of Rumsfeld: "He could not do greater harm to this country were he a paid agent of bin Laden."

6. A reminder: another Special Comment is coming up tomorrow night.
It's been a while, so be sure to tune in. About the lessons Bush apparently didn't learn from Vietnam that he SHOULD have learned so that he can apply them to Iraq.

Tell your friends.
