Feingold thanks the netroots
Russ Feingold wrote a letter thanking the grassroots effort to "Draft" him to run for President in 2008. Feingold posted this on the site Run, Russ, Run.

Thank You –

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the hard-work and time you all have dedicated to this effort. I’ve enjoyed reading the different blogs and posts from the "Draft Russ" sites for over a year now and had I decided to run in 2008, your effort would have been the foundation for a powerful, grassroots campaign.

As I said during my announcement last Sunday, I’ve often felt that if a block of Wisconsin swiss cheese had taken the same positions I’ve taken over the years, it would have received the same standing ovations. This is because the hunger for progressive change we all feel is not about me, but about the desire for a genuinely different Democratic Party that is now ready to begin to reverse the 25 years of growing extremism we have endured. So even though I won’t be a candidate in 2008, our issues, our causes, and our desire for change are still strong.

When the new Democratic Congress convenes in January, we will have a historic opportunity to get our country back on track. I am going to continue to speak out on the issues we all care about; from redeploying our troops out of Iraq, to health care for all Americans, to a common-sense energy policy, and the list goes on.

The amount of hard-work and time it will take to get all of these things done is too much for one person and that is why I will continue to look to all of you for your help.

Our Progressive Patriots Fund was extremely successful during this campaign and we are going to continue to build on the progress we made so please, if you haven’t already, sign up for our updates because we will continue to need your support.

Our win last Tuesday was merely the beginning of a Democratic resurgence in America. Please continue your activism and dedication. Please continue to speak out and speak up for the issues that matter to you. Please continue to stand up for the values we all share. Please continue to do your part to get our country back on track. I promise I will continue to do mine.

Thanks again,

Russ Feingold
United States Senator

1. Thanks for this. I have
oodles of respect for Senator Feingold. I'm glad he'll stay in that chamber to fight the fight, because he does it so well and with such integrity.
So, thank YOU, Senator Feingold!

2. Feingold can be leader on the important issues
and maybe run in 2012 or 2016.
