Latest New Hampshire poll |
|
I just saw on CNN a blurb showing Dean at 41%, Kerry at 17% and Clark at 13%. Is this a new poll? Anyone have a link?

1. Might be a new poll.... |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-26-03 05:10 PM by AWD
....but it's shaping up to look like all the other recent NH polls.
On edit - uh, oh! Only 59% of Dems hate Dean now! </sarcasm>

3. No one says Dean isn't doing great |
|
in his neighboring State of New Hampshire. In fact I will generalize and just admit that Dean is doing great, OK? But you can't go ahead and say he is supported by 41% of Dems nationwide. Not yet at least lol, maybe later. We shall see. I honestly hope that less than 5% of Dems hate Dean anywhere. I certaainly don't.

6. NH wasn't a "given" for Dean |
|
It's a very conservativish middle of the road state. Registered Independents outnumber both Democrats and Republicans in the state. If Dean is doing this well in NH, he's going to do very well everywhere, including swing voters. When people actually pay attention, they like him a lot. If they listen to the media, they just buy into what they hear. That's going to change soon enough. If Dean is the nominee people will start paying closer attention and compare him to Bush instead of the 8 others. If you stand Dean next to Bush and compare their records, Dean looks absolutely phenomenal.

It is significant that Dean has won tht trust of so many of those people there. That is the bottom line. While I worry that Dean's appeal will not translate as well in the essentially mass media form of campaigning that makes up the General Election, everything you said is all to his credit. And of course Dean is far more qualified as a person to lead this country tham Bush is, was, or ever will be.

19. And Dean's campaign is set to circumvent media |
|
and use the grassroots networking to distribute its messages. Dean isn't relying upon CNN and FOX to get it right.

is actually more of a liability in NH. Us gun totin, gay hatin', rednecks don't cotton to no Vermonters coming heah.
Oddly enough - a whole lot of Republicans are supporting Dean in my part of northern NH - and it is odd. This is the state that voted for Pat Buchanan.

You don't think that perhaps many Repubs are crossing over to support Dean because they want him to run, do you? I mean, as a Dem from "socialist" Vermont he certainly must resonate with them.
Nah, they'd never do that. In New Hampshire? Where registering as an independent allows you to vote in the primary?
Nah - they probably really like him....

As a Clark supporter, I realize that Dean is unstoppable in New Hampshire. It's Kerry that I have my sights set on, as a strong 2nd place finish would look really good for Clark. I like this poll because it reinforces Clark's strong 3rd and shows Kerry within striking distance. A recent ARG poll showed Clark back down to 8% in NH, and really had me spooked, which is why I'm hoping that this is a recent poll.

7. Clark will come in second in NH |
|
Kerry ran all over the state saying he was in favor of gun control. The NRA is big in NH, even a lot of Democrats are members. Politicians should NEVER talk gun control in NH because it'll make them DOA. That's why Kerry is sinking like the Titanic in NH. He screwed up BIG time.

8. Kerry's moved most resources to IA, I believe |
|
He knows he can't win in NH, and is focusing on placing in Iowa. If he does pass Gep in IA, he might get a bounce in NH (not enough to beat Dean, but maybe enough to stay in it).

12. Clark's strategy should be to pounce in NH |
|
And convince voters that's he's a better choice than Kerry. Might be a tough sell, Kerry still has some firm support there because it's basically his home turf, but Clark probably needs to have a good showing in NH if he expects to compete on Feb. 3.

14. He needs third and a good follow up week |
|
Maybe he can let Lieberman just squeek past for third because Lieberman is from New England also, but only if it is a near tie. Clark has to then start putting distance between himself and the rest of the non Dean pack on Feb. 3rd, and become the only viable alternative to Dean as a result. If Clark comes in second in NH all of the rest will be made a lot easier for him.

18. Judging from many DU Clark supporters I thought Wes was ahead nationwide ! |
|
Is it just wishful thinking, or an actual disconnect from reality ?
Only time will tell
"And I'm very glad we've got the great team in office, men like Colin Powell, Don Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice... people I know very well... our president George W. Bush. We need them there."
