John Edwards signs books, discusses presidential election questions
GREENSBORO — Sure it was a book signing, but it wasn’t a writer the people crowded into the book store to see.

Former Democratic senator and 2004 vice presidential candidate John Edwards was promoting his book, yes.

But hundreds came to Barnes & Noble — some lining up before the store opened Saturday — to see the man many of them hope will be the next president of the United States.

Edwards signed the newly-released book "Home: The Blueprints of Our Lives" from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The book is a collection of 60 essays in which people reflect on their childhood homes. The one-term North Carolina senator said he was inspired to start the project after a visit to his childhood home in South Carolina.

"Poor, rich, it doesn’t really matter because people all remember the same things," Edwards said of the widely varied contributors to the collection.

But he also satisfied the unapologetically Democratic crowd with plenty of policy talk, mentioning universal health care, education, foreign policy and the environmental and political impacts of U.S. dependence on oil.....more...

11. Wow !
Great link, thanks ben :hi:

".....The moment Senator Edwards entered the room, the crowd became mesmerized by his presence. He explained that he would speak briefly, take questions and then sign the books because he didn't want anyone going home without their book being signed. When he explained that he would make no money from the books but rather it would go to Habitat for Humanity and other worthy causes, he got his first big round of applause......more....."
