UCLA Student incident and the Governor.

Now, if I were to have witnessed that happening I would have taken a pen, paper, gotten the names and numbers of everyone, started writing down all I was seeing, asking other students to do the same. I would have taken all of said material, made copies, and upon learning of that video would have taken all of it and personally hounded the Governor until I were to receive an audience and a get a top of the state response.

And believe me I'm a relentless bastard. Now my question is if the Governor of that state actually has given any sort of response and whatnot? Any reaction?

And what has happened to the cops? Could there be actual action taken against the officers via their own police department and what about a civil suit?

1. The BTKops...
I think the victim has a civil rights suit in the works. The department is investigating. I haven't seen the news in a couple of days, but no word from the governator as far as I know. It's unlikely the department will do more than fire the cops, which is quite amazing considering what would happen to us if we decided to bind, torture, and use potentially lethal force against a person who simply back-talked to us.

2. Hmmm...

There's no doubt the kid was an asshat and deserved to get arrested. However the use of the force was absurd. Any cop should know after being tasered you cannot walk, it is physically impossible. Then to taser him repeatedly when they could have just picked him up is a personal choice they made. I hope they get their pants sued off them.

4. Because clearly I've done homework and know what happened.

It started with a routine check of everyones student ID's. He didn't have one and when asked to leave/leave and go get it he refused, became belligerent, and morphed into a " Fight the establishment! " mentality. When he refused to leave, by order of the officers, they had the right and reason(logically and literally) to arrest him. Afterwords though, tasering an incopacitated person and demanding that he stand up and walk out when it is physically and medically impossible, is the issue. The kid was a brat, an asshat, the stereotypical fight authority punk and subsequently by his actions deserved to be arrested. He did not deserved to be tortured and he has my full blessings to sue those officers and I hope, and pray, that they loose their jobs and can never practice any sort of law enforcement again.

Edit. LRN2SPELL LOLZORZ!

14. Not very clearly at that.
It started with a routine check of some student's IDs. He didn't want to show his, for unknown reasons, and got up, put his backpack on and started to leave. In the meantime the police came, then handcuffed him and tased him. The only time he refused an order was "stand up!" after he was tased. Kind of hard to stand up with your hands handcuffed behind you and having just been tased. He kept repeating he was trying to leave, they kept tasing him for not being able to.

And, by the way, calling other posters here asshat when they ask a question or question you is bad manners and against DU rules.

9. It's irrelevant, and if you believe otherwise please explain how and why.

11. Read below.

Part of my research as to whether or not they were rentacops or actual full on policemen. I thought you were trying to take a sarcastic jab at me, if not then it's just communication. My point is that rentacop or no it's irrelevant. :\

12. As I read the thread, you yourself posted this:
"Question: were they rentacops or....?" Yes, I was laughing at your having researched the situation but now knowing if they were rentacops or not. Then, more amusingly, after you ask the question you say it's irrelevant. I am positive I am missing something here, but what it is, is unclear.

13. You'r grasping at straws of hay.

Tell me how their being rentacops(which I believe they are) or not rentacops is relevant to the situation? Their still essentially going to follow the same system that will figure out whether they were out of line/breaking the law, and they will more then likely still face the same punishment. It was for clarity of mind, nothing I said previously would have any sort of impact regardless as to whether or not they were rentacops.

Trying to say that I was saying my question was irrelevant is dishonest at best. Try doing something more productive with your time then effortlessly attempting to start arguments.

I didn't realize that when you posted your question, it was purely rhetorical. And I wasn't trying to start an argument; I was laughing at you. Still am, but I'll recover and no doubt, so will you. Peace.

On edit: I just reread the thread again. Something is being lost in the translation. You are rather harsh when you claim I'm being "dishonest at best." It simply isn't true. -Lisa

Didn't mean to get bitchy. <_< It's just kinda... Me. >_< But, water under the bridge. I suppose I'm just irritable now that I am doing this paper for Comp 2. Nothing like waiting the last night to do something. :\
