Make sure the Draft is part of any conversation you have with a conservative |
|
especially those under 42. That's what Charlie wants.
Well my wonderful conservative patriotic friend are you ready to be drafted? And just think, your continued blind support for george bush is all the cause of it, congratulations.
You'll look good in Desert Khamis.
Imagine all the military pomp and circumstance at your funeral. The kids will really be impressed, and your wife will get a nice flag.
I DON'T WANT THEIR TO BE A DRAFT BUT I WANT CONSERVATIVES TO PAY SOMEHOW SOMEWAY FOR WHAT THEY HAVE PUT OUR COUNTRY THROUGH THE PAST FOUR YEARS.

1. I can't wait to go to work today. The RW nuts I work with will have spinning heads. |
|
Draft, are you nuts, a draft, WTF? I can just hear it and I will finally be able to say, why, isn't the Iraq war a glorious endeavor that should be supported at all costs?
LOL, it'll be great. :-) MKJ

9. And they will be able to say |
|
Why, I thought you were against the war. This is a pretty strange way to show it.

10. I am against the war. But, they're "patriots", so why won't they support |
|
giving our military the means to "win a victory" in Iraq? It will be fun. :-) MKJ

2. Draft the sons and daughters of Congress and President first |
|
Edited on Mon Nov-20-06 09:15 AM by bfealk
Not only should there be a draft, one of the provisions of the law should be that any draft age children of Congress should be required to go first, including Bush's twins. They aren't doing anything right now any way.

3. You would think all progeny of draft age of members of Congress and high-ranking Administration |
|
officials, elected and appointed, would feel a patriotic duty to show support of wars of their making. :patriot:

4. Stop overreacting to idea of draft, please |
|
Charlie Rangel is doing this to make a point. If there is a draft or had their been a draft for Iraq -- which means upperclass kids would be serving---we might never have gone to Iraq and the Congress would think long and hard before going to any war.
In other words as long as the upperclass is spared any sacrifice no one gives serious thought before granting permission for war.
Remem ber we are governed by a rulling class who so far have felt no harm from this war.
Charlie knows the Draft Legislation will not pass. It is symbolic legislation to make a point.
Furthermore, IMO we should have a War Tax to pay for wars. This would really make War Mongers stop and think. They do not see a taxcut they do not like. Let them pay for their wars.
as things stand now, the Middle Class and poor pay the taxes and fight the battles.
Charlie is doing this symbollically.

5. Brilliant idea. So all the Republicans can say |
|
"Who's proposing a draft? That would be the Democrats, my friend. The Republicans aren't interested."
or
"Great. Let's make it a bi-partisan plan. We knew you'd come around eventually."

7. It is Republicans screaming |
|
like stuck pigs on TV. It was Republicans who gave us the all volunteer army. They knew they had to protect their constituents.
Who do you think seriously is going to vote for a draft?
Rangel is stirring up people--just what he wants.
What would happen if we had a draft and a War Tsx when they try to invade Iran???
Again who do you think is going to vote for these things>

8. Bush's advisors are telling him that the only way to "win" the war |
|
or at least, to bring about a temporary peace, is to increase the number of troops. We're already stretched to the limits there.
The proposal -- a draft proposal coming from the Democrats -- could be just the cover that Republicans need so that Bush can get his draft after all. The Repubs could vote for it en masse and say -- hey, it was bi-partisan. A Democrat proposed it.

12. Man, what a nice idea...I am thinking of a couple of my PROUD righty |
|
neighbors, one with 2 sons at home, 16 and 14...Very proud fucking patriots, but they have more money than God, they would never ever say hi to a real soldier, they don't even watch the news, soldiers dying in Iraq has no impact on their lives or futures...But oh God do they get offended if you call him the Chimp!!!
I can't wait to tell him that Charlie Rangel would love LOVE to see his boys get drafted.
