I am sick of the misogynistic coverage of Pelosi
Go ahead and beat up on her like you would on a guy - there shouldn't be any double standard. But please, drop the word "catty" from your vocabulary.

"Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, who trounced Pelosi's choice, the ethics-challenged Pennsylvania war critic John Murtha, for the job, admits he is worried about retaliation from the catty Pelosi.

'We're going to talk about that,' Hoyer admitted when asked if he feared reprisal from the new Speaker. But he added that retaliation would be a mistake for Pelosi because his supporters would retaliate against her.

'One of the reasons it's going to not happen is that there are a lot of them,' Hoyer said of his supporters. 'It's one thing ... if you have a margin of one or two or five or even 10, but when you have a margin as decisively as the caucus made a decision, then it's time to move on.'

Catty? It's about as dated as using "coed" when talking about female college students (who make up the majority of college students, so maybe we should start calling the male students "coeds" now?)

1. Get used to it.
It's only just beginning. It's going to be non-stop until 2008.

This is our first female speaker in an all-boys clubhouse. Whether we like to admit it or not, the power structure is still afraid of women, especially women in power, many democrats included I would guess.

2. Now they will start digging into her personal life looking for any reason to smear her

Its a permanent state with republicans. Had Gore won in 2000 he would have been immediately impeached. Had Kerry won in 04 he would have immediately been impeached. This is their permanent plan. Why she has decided to play nicey nice with these people is beyond me. They would have her killed if they thought they could get away with it.

3. If you liked "catty"...
then you'll love this quote:

"This is the new beginning? You have to wonder whether they'll have to install a scratching post by the speaker's chair after Pelosi is installed.

4. I've noticed that misogyny as well...
If they get any more misogynistic they'll be breaking out the Malleus Maleficarum.

I've seen it a lot - that's just the one that started me off today.

8. Yeah, and why haven't we stopped the war yet? Huh?
Broken promises! The election was 2 weeks ago, and we haven't done ANYTHING to stop the war!!!!! (or so says Chris Matthews....)

But that's another rant.

She's a chick, so she's a "bitch" (said in Bill O'Rielly accent)...

12. If writers would simply stop making editorial remarks about personalities
There wouldn't be any issue of misogyny.

13. Doug Thomson is no libertarian. He's an old style con.
He can't stand the idea of a woman with any sort of meaningful power.
