But that's the best I can say. His performance as a VP candidate was pitiful. I'll be pushing for Gore, thanks.

40. Kathleen!!
Nice to see her being seriously considered. I still like Obama/Clark, but I'd certainly jump behind my governor in a heatbeat. I would miss her leadership in my state, but she would make a great VP.

I still prefer Obama/Clark, though! ;-)

41. I don't know if anyone is seriously considering her besides me
But I think she could attract a lot of voters and we could take advantage of the civil war in the Kansas GOP and hopefully make it spread elsewhere.

7. Sorry, not Edwards unless he gets the nod., ...
...and even then I won't do campaign work. I really don't see the attraction. He did one term in the Senate and then abandoned it when he could not be president or vice president. Is this about the nation or about his ambition? With six years in the Senate and no other experience as an elected official I doubt he could do well managing the country. He might end up being like Jimmy Carter: a lot of great ideas but without the management experience to make them work. Besides, no Senator except JFK has become president in all of the 20th century. Governors are a far better option.

There is no evidence that any will run though. There are many governors that I don't know much about, so I am always hoping someone comes along to wow us all.

8. Edwards just blogged at Kos; addressed many issues...
You can read his answers here:

http://www.dailykos.com/user/John%20Edwards/comments

These are real, erudite answers - I want more politicians to engage in such blogging sessions. Instead of posting a speech, let's have them engage one on one in the comments section as Edwards did. Great stuff. He even talks about his lack of FP cred perceptijon.

NEITHER voted for the Patriot Act.

And both are just as good looking, and together have all of the experience required to make Democrats a full service party--which, by the way, includes National Security.

Together, they have an intelligence unsurpassed, and brains with looks beats wrong on war and peace with looks anyday!

I can never enjoy or learn from a thread with ABC (anybody but clark) without seeing some negative comments. I know Clark would not like his name dragged into the debate every freaking time !

Patriot Act = School of the Americas ?

33. I don't know....Clark never got a vote on either as he was in the military
not dictating their national policies (that's the government who does that).

So, did John Edwards draft a bill to close the Schools of America? Did he vote against it's funding? Not that I can recall. Bout You?

56. Excuse me, but...
The subject of the OP is "The Next President of the United States of America."

The OP then goes on to suggest that the next president will be John Edwards, but that is NOT the subject. It is not hi-jacking the thread to suggest that the next president should be someone else instead, it is responding to the OP.

You really need to get the chip off of your shoulder against those of us who support Clark. We have as much right to post our opinions here as anyone else. On any thread we choose.

Like them all. Don't know who I would vote for in the primary next time. I think I favor John Edwards, but the rest are OK in my book also.

Maybe I'll just cross over and vote against the Republican I dislike the most, or against the Republican that seems to be the most electable.

I've done that when I like all the Dem choices and can't decide on a favorite. It puts me on the GOP mailing list and I get their propaganda for a while.

MATTHEWS: OK. I just want to get one thing straight so that we know how
you would have been different in president if you had been in office
the last four years as president. Would you have gone to Afghanistan?

EDWARDS: I would.

MATTHEWS: Would you have gone to Iraq?

EDWARDS: I would have gone to Iraq.

53. Actually, I'm wrong. He likes Romney in 2008. He supported McCain in 2000.
Edited on Tue Nov-21-06 10:51 AM by nickshepDEM
Here is the direct quote:

"Schweitzer remains an iconoclast; he says he supported John McCain’s presidential bid in 2000, though he has since soured on McCain because of the way he has courted the religious right, and he says he is now intrigued by the possibility of a presidential run by Mitt Romney, the Republican governor of Massachusetts, in 2008. “If he gets the nomination, I might support him,” Schweitzer told me."

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/08/magazine/08governor.html?_r=1&oref=slogin&pagewanted=all

When I first read this I felt as if I had been punched in the gut. Disappointing to say the very least.

44. No Edwards...
he's an empty suit. Plus, more importantly, he can't even win his own home state. Hell, even Evan Bayh could pull Indiana over to the blue column. Edwards didn't even run for re-election. What kinda shit is that? He doesn't have a job right now at all. I like that man, but he can't win the presidency. However, he'd be a fantastic Attorney General.
