WTFAWII: Why the f**k are we in Iraq?
Am I mistaken, or has no one other than Helen Thomas on 3/21/06 demanded an answer to the ultimate elephant-in-the-room question: "Why the f**k are we in Iraq?"

All day long, we hear pundits bloviate about every ridiculous issue, but no one ever talks about what got us into Operation Pandora.

If it really was about WMD, then where is the investigation to find out who blew it (or who put others up to blowing it)?

If it really was to free the Iraqi people, where is the concern and accountability about the hundreds of thousands of innocents killed?

Of course I understand that we've been dealing with the Rubber-stamp Republican Congress, and I'm hopeful that investigations will begin in January.

But still, isn't it simply surreal that no one even brings this up to anyone in the Bush administration?

If you were the guy at work who screwed up the big deal, wouldn't there at least be a few questions about it, even if you somehow avoided getting axed over it?

Note: in the linked item, the bitmap at the top links to a promotional item, with all profits going to veterans' charities. I mention that so you *don't* click it, if you'd rather not be marketed to.

1. I have no fucking clue
They can't even get enough oil out of Iraq to make a profit, and Haliburton and KBR have left already.

So I ask, what good is it doing ANYBODY????

6. There are all sorts of ignoble and pathetic reasons...
...personally, I'm big on the theory that it's Bush's Oedipus Complex making him an easy mark for ther PNAC gang, whose imperial ambitions are well-documented.

But with our massive "news" establishment you'd think there'd be at least a little noise about this massive fault of logic, and yet there's been no one holding his feet to the fire. No one so much as making him squirm to try to tell a credible story or even pin the snafu on somebody.

Rumsfeld was, at long last, fired for doing a crappy job, but where is anyone asking the big "why" about us being there at all?

2. we are in Iraq cause the powers that be wanted us their
all our "heros" let it happen; encouraged it. Only the true patriots called for diplomacy and peace when fear ruled all. The rest enabled it.

God bless those that saw this war as a mistake before it happened.
Curse those that supported this war.

4. Wild- West justice ....
"He tried to kill my daddy" ....

In an attempt to emulate the "best" of Eastwood, *'s getting even for the old man ... and he'll go one step further, not realizing that the other side doesn't subscribe to conventional warfare - which we always win.
Damn, those fuckers cut enemies' heads off, turn scrap metal into homemade bombs, and blow themselves (and ours) up just for the hell of it!! They don't fight fair!
Why we're in Iraq? For starters, we needed to elect a president who had read a couple history books or one with better genes. In that perspective, Laura was more qualified. Two pennies.

...O...

7. I also am sick to death of the hashing and rehashing of "why we can't leave"
It's all bullshit. We could leave tomorrow if our elites wanted us to.

I hate to bring up what is apparently a sore point with, like, everyone, but all I've been able to come up with is that Israel is afraid to let us leave at the moment.

It is absolutely crystal clear that Iraq--either with or without our soldiers in it--is no threat whatsoever to us. But it appears that some Israelis think that the current Iraq is a threat to them. And some of those Israelis are in our government.
