More on Chavez
I guess we got enough threads about Hugo Chavez, but I've been out of the loop lately. For the most part I respect him, yet have some reservations, particularly fearing possible authoritarian leanings. I hope it's not so, of course, because besides that I agree with him on almost everything...what does everyone else think?

4. i more worried about harper....
it seems harper has figured out that he can flank the liberals, the left, using certain tricks, the idea being to gain a parliementary majority where the gloves can come off. The guy hates canada, he wants it to be part of the empire of the blonde jesus, or something(!)
your concern about President Chavez? well we should let the Venezuelans worry about their own leadership and we concentrate on ours, who are proven crooks/conmen :(...our media is awful. they lie all the time. they promote the rightwing agenda ie bush/blair/harper, and use anything/everything to confuse the issue while obscuring the fact police statism is on the march

6. I'll PayPal you $100 if you can find a quote of Chavez saying that.

Chavez can't change the constitution. It can only be changed by a nationwide referendum. And nobody is talking about amending the constitution to give anyone lifetime presidential terms.
